HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: RED FLANNEL

I use it and my dogs seem to like it. I used to use higher dollar stuff until I read the ingredients. When the number one ingredient in most high dollar food is CORN, there is something wrong. I had better luck with the lamb and rice Ole Roy food from Walmart than I did with stuff like Science Diet. I always make sure that when I buy dog food, that the first ingredient is some kind of meat. By law they have to post whatever ingredient makes up the majority of the food, first. So if your bag says Corn first, thats what you are feeding, and corn has NO nutritional value, it is just a filler.

Hey will there be anything set up for young green dogs who have never seen a hog, or is everything pretty much geared for the dogs that are competing? I have a young mix breed that I was goiong to have tag along if there was anything like that. I am new to this type of hunting, and I'm not really sure how to set up my own training for such as this. This is a big difference than using pigeons for retriever training.

Looks like it might be an Australian Shepherd cross, or possibly a Border Collie mix. You say it has webbed feet so it may have lab in him,but my first guess is Aussie mix. they have been known to have green eyes so does red merle the border collies.

It seems that some type of curr or catahoula seem to be the dog of choice. Has anyone hunted with blue heelers, or are they too short legged for long hunts?
