Selling a 12' custom trailer. Many pics and description can be seen here..... http://www.easttexashogdoggers.com/forum/index.php?topic=12407.0One correction....the water tank is 30 gallons, not 50. In addition, trailer comes with onboard charger and recently bought heavy duty 9ply trailer tires. Tires may have maybe 1000 miles on them, so mucho treadlife left. All welds are solid, and everything works...lights, water pump, latches, ect. Two dogs can easily fit in the front two compartments and the back two were used as singles. Will throw in 4 buckets and clips. Asking $1200 - OBO. Located in Pearland (south of Houston) Text Richard at 832-405-7924 or email - r.skinneriii@gmail.com

HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Loving the cool weather
|

We took some time off to escape the heat this summer but have been back at it pretty steady for the last month or so. Been spending a lot of time in the woods with Clint, Aaronbmc, court, aaron, and tait. As always with running dogs, sometimes catching a hog is the least crazy thing you do on a hunt..... - Swimming rivers at night is never fun but its actually preferable in the winter because at least the gators and snakes aren't out. - Ever seen a donkey catch a hog?....I sent my female catchdog to a hog that was trying to escape down a tree line while the curs were working the woods. She runs it down and catches it, perfect. As soon as it squeals a donkey that was hanging with some cows in the nearby pasture flips out and comes running over to kick some butt. He starts off by stomping, then he goes to biting and locking down like a SOB. Eventually CD comes back to earth and sees whats going on so she lets go and runs off into the woods. This is when we realize the donkey had caught the hog on the back of the neck and was putting all of its chest weight on it. We shoo the donkey off and the hog was just laying there "like what the hell was that?" It stood up and clint legged it. - Hydrilla will drown a dog in a vest quick....and if you go into save it and can't touch the bottom, drowning is a possibilty - Had a catchdog decide my calf was a good second option when it was broke off a hog. LOL Matt, this hog almost ended Crickets career,,,broke four ribs, and gave her a lifetime of pokes, cut and holes but she is now back in the woods. Unfortunately I don't think she has learned her lesson. Just some recent pics from our hunts. I don't think any have been posted yet by anyone else sorry for any dups

HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Had a busy weekend with the Bo hogs

Very productive weekend fellas! Hope there was a brindle helper in on a few of those.
Matt, she's be tearing up the woods. She started two hogs for us this past weekend. She was so independant I was a little concerned about her willingness to honor another dog but after a little exposure she feel right in.

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: NO vest is cut proof

is the p&p vest 9 ply in chest and around ribs
Monte, I ordered it to be double re-enforced in the chest area over his normal catchdog vest.....which looking thru the cut means 6 layers. The rib area is I guess 4 layers. If 6 layers won't do it it won't work for me. As is, the vest probably retains more body heat then either of the other vest. Not a scientific fact, rather an observation we made after running it on about 10 hunts and seeing how hot the dogs got and the necessity to remove the vest to allow for proper cool down....not required with the other vest on the same hunts. This time of year I worry about heat as much as the hogs so I'm willing to go any thicker. If you would like this on for a back up, I sell it to you for $50 (was 110 brand new). I does has several cuts thru it though...two from a hog and several more from comparison testing.

Little Cricket has some go to her but she needs to get her lungs in shape to match her drive. LOL Not a bad problem to have!
It was a last second hunt when mother days plans got changed on saturday nite so it was different for the two us to just hunt by ourselves with just our dogs. I really enjoyed it and because we knew all of the dogs on the ground so we were able to take our sweet time and just let them bay there hearts out on that boar. We walked to within about 60 yards, could see the boars back just over a blow down, and watched the dogs work. Would have been great video......

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Incredible feats by a dog
|
on: May 02, 2011, 04:13:02 pm
|
Lets hear about some first hand stories about what you consider to be an incredible or awesome feat by a dog (one dog, not a pack of dogs). I remember Mike's post about JP's dog running a hog for 5 hrs and finally coming to bay.....AWESOME.
I bring this up because I think I witnessed an incredible feat this weekend. The dogs struck out behind a stock tank. As we are walking in with the CD's, we think we hear a sounder so we cut the cd's loose and they catch a sow. We figure that the sounder we heard was just the curs gets rough and catching out. Well we notice one of the curs is gone and this dog is notorious for rolling out like a scalding ape after a catch if there were more hogs around. We keep loosing and picking up signal on her collar from 910-960 yds. Some of the time it shows her treed but always in the same general area. It was only our second time to hunt this ranch so we didn't know our way around very well so we tried to drive closer but just ended up wasting time. Its been probably 30 minutes by now so we decide to just start walking. We get about 200 yds out and we here her bark about once every 5-10 seconds, not steadily hammering. We sent another cur in to help tighten the bay and when that happened the bottom fell out. She had a sounder of 30-40 hogs balled up tight for about 45 minutes until we got there. Its takes a helluva a dog to work that many hogs for that long without any help IMO. Damn impressive in my book.
Lets hear some of your stories.
