Not to hijack this post, but Those are some dang good looking dogs. As far as I can see from these pictures they are built just how I like a dog to be built. Can you tell me how they hunt?

HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Wind a mile off ?

One my dogs has went a mile and opened up a few times. Garmin showed him steadily moving in the same direction.
Whats the possiblity of the dog winding the hogs close but they be a mile before the dogs catch up?? Not calling you out, just using your post as an example... The hogs could be right off the road and hear you coming, or if you have a dog bark when he winds one... The hogs take off and be a mile before the dogs get to them... I would guess there would be a few hunters out there that would say there dogs winded that hog at a mile... I've had this conversation on more than one occasion with som buddies in oklahoma and i whole heartedly believe that this scenario is what happens most of the time. They strike close and get them shut down alot further out. I mean no offense to anybody but a hog aint gonna stand there while a dog runs a mile through the fields and/or woods. he is gonna start covering some ground the fisrt time the dog crashes through a thicket or something IMO

No bickering here just lookin to learn. Mr. rockin p i was in noway trying to second guess your statement it just went against all the previous advice we had been given so it had me curious. with that being said we are not sure if the injury happened while he was turned out or if it happened at a barrell race a few days before so i'm kinda hesitant to turn him loose again. i do believe that time is the ultimate healing ingredient i was just lookin for things to "help" get him along a little smoother and possibly a little faster. i appreciate all the opinions that were voiced and hope there are no hard feelings.

thanks for all the responses. we had a few people tell us about the dmso i was just looking for a few more ideas but its pretty clear that dmso might just be the best bet. gonna get that started asap. And keeping one up in a stall or small trap is not the best thing for him.
not trying to doubt you sir but why is this? we were told that keeping him penned would prevent him from running around to much and reaggravating the injury.

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / question for all the horse people.

ok here is the deal, got a barrell horse with a sore/strained suspensory tendon. other than just penning him and and giving him time, what other things can be done to give him the best chance to be able to run again without coming up lame every time? and is there anything to speed up the whole healing process? he is a dang good horse so i'm not gonna do anything stupid to prevent a proper healing just curious.

THE CLASSIFIEDS / CLASSIFIED ADS / wtt saddle and/or bmc female
|
on: May 15, 2011, 05:33:18 pm

the saddle i have is just a shop made saddle i bought a while back on here. it is in good condition its just a little bigger than what i needed. the bmc female is 3 years old and has not ever been in the woods with me. she will bay from outside a pen and has had two litters of pups. comes from good stock. would like to trade one or both of them (depending on quality) for a smaller saddle. i'm looking for a 15" highback ranch roper style saddle. needs to have larger bronc type swells and needs to be in good riding condition. i have pictures of the saddle and the female that i can send on the phone just let me know what you got. tjrain07@yahoo.com or 940-782-9145 my name is TJ

never don it out in the woods but when we put hogs in the bay pen at the house we used a set of tree loppers. they worked real well and never had a dog get cut by what was left over of the teeth
