1  THE CLASSIFIEDS / THE DOG TRADE / **SOLD** on: May 28, 2016, 11:29:47 pm
All pups are spoken for at this time, thanks to those that took one home.

Pups for sale.  I don't breed often, but this is the third cross between Jack and Daisy.  Have had good reports on the other two litters.  I kept two females from the first and they work well for me on hogs.  The parents/siblings hunt hard for me or they wouldn’t still be at my place.
Full pics of all the dogs on my website.  They will be ready to go the weekend of June 18th.
So far, two males and one female are spoken for.
$200 each.  Call or text; 210-422-0791   email at kemmercurs@aol.com

I actually want to apologize to Barlow.  I don't know him and certainly don't want him to be offended by something stupid that I typed on the internet.  It's too easy to misinterpet what a stranger types on here and I am guilty of replying without first using my pee size brain.
I was pretty sure he was joking when he typed his post, but since I don't know him, I wasn't sure.  Either way, my response was unappropriate and wrong.

Barlow, I apologize.

Heck, I thought you were serious and you had me thinkin' I've been wrong about this whole tail dockin' deal?  Hence the high IQ figured out the error in docking a tails.  Now I'm really confused?

And why is someones job a factor in this discussion?  Undecided

That's why I blame Robert Kemmer, Randy Wright and other breeders of bob-tailed dogs for all of the dog aggression in the world!

I know right, no wonder poodles attack each other all time, they ain't got no tails!   Damn high IQ right there!
5  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Caught an odd looking boar today on: May 31, 2014, 04:34:48 pm
We made a run this morning and dogs hit a track as soon as we turned them loose.  Ran about a mile before they got him bayed in some thick brush.  Turned the AB's into them, thanks again Scott, and we made our way in to a caught hog.
They had him completely shut down, just a matter of legging him at that point.
Weird looking hog though, really short and sparse hair covering, barely even a ridge along his back.  Long snout, very lean, pure muscle.  He cut 4 of the 7 dogs on the ground.  None too serious, but still, he was a stout little hog.

No shrinkage on that big boy.  Great job!
7  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Took my huntin' buddy this morning on: May 24, 2014, 08:44:53 pm
Took my huntin' buddy again this morning.  Dogs got us two decent sows bayed up.  Caught the first one, dogs rolled out and struck #2 about 300 yards away.  Emily was happy, she came home with a bloody knife.  She'd be the first one in if I'd let her.   Grin

8  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: which collar is better dc30 or dc40 on: May 12, 2014, 02:07:11 pm
Just got off the phone with Garmin and that was a good laugh, and who doesn't need a good laugh during the day?
I explained to her that my DC 40 would not turn on, even when plugged into the power cord.  I told her I had even tried to disconnect the battery to reset it, but she informed me that trick does not work with the 40's, only the 30's.  She stated it would need to be sent in for repair.  I said, 'ok, that's like $89 right?" and she told me "no, it's $120."  I told her it says on their website $89 and she told me they do not list any prices on their website, I must have gotten that price from someone elses website.  I didn't want to argue with her, since I wasn't looking at the website, so I let it go.  I was about to agree to pay the $120 when I remembered what 'hillbilly' had told me about them upgrading to the DC50 for $100, so I asked her about upgrading.  Sure enough, for $100 you can upgrade to the DC50 which comes with a 1 year warranty.  For the $120 repair work, that only comes with a 90 day warranty.   Shocked
I told her, 'Lady, next time you have this conversation with a hunter, you should lead off with the upgrade deal and save all the talking about the repair work!"   Grin  laugh
So needless to say, I agreed to the upgrade to the DC50.  It sounded to me like they were trying to get all the 40s off the market since they won't do the upgrade for a DC30?
Oh, then after I get off the phone with her, I google 'garmin dc 40 repair' and a link pops up taking you to the Garmin website.  You type in the model of your device, in this case I typed DC40, and it states, $89 for repair.  Go figure!
Thanks hillbilly for the tip.   Wink

I meant $10, not 20.
10  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: which collar is better dc30 or dc40 on: May 09, 2014, 01:01:49 pm
Well that's a deal if they'll upgrade to a dc50 for an additional $20.  Thanks, I'll ask them when I call.

Try taking it apart and disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes, then put it back together.  It seems to reboot it like a computer.
12  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: which collar is better dc30 or dc40 on: May 08, 2014, 01:25:51 pm
I have 4 of the 30's and 3 of the 40's.  I hate the charging cord/docking setup on the 30's, much prefer the 40's charging style.
Don't notice a big difference in range, all are equipped with the aftermarket antennas.  But my 30's are a lot older than the 40's and have worked well for me.  I just had a 40 crap out on me this past week and I can't get it to power up, so looks like it will be going in for repair.  Garmin website says $89 for repairs.
I am considering upgrading to the 50's in the near future?
13  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Made the switch to ABs on: May 05, 2014, 01:21:39 pm
I can post some pics of my pits when I get home.  And again, I'm not claiming to be an all knowing pit man.  I've had a few that caught hogs for me.  I don't breed them, couldn't come up with a popular bloodlines name if my life depended on it.  I have catchdogs to catch hogs, just so happens I had pits up until recently.  What bloodlines, who were their parents, what was their history, I couldn't tell you.  They caught pigs, so I fed them in return.  Did I need them to be fast and agile, no.  I needed them to run 30 yards and catch a pig.  If for whatever reason they didn't catch, I put them back on the atv and carried them to the next bay.  Could they catch a big hog?  Yes, and they did it extremely well for me over the years.  I felt very safe walking into a caught hog, knowing those two pits were locked on.  They were very well behaved and I've never, ever carried a break stick.  Every pit I've ever owned came off the hog by verbal commands.
Someone asked if I thought the ABs were faster than pits and I gave my opinion based on the dogs I've owned.
My male pit was as tall and leggy as an AB, but he couldn't out run my daughters overweight weenie dog.   Grin Cheesy  In his mind, he probably thought he was a grayhound, but we'd laugh so hard watching him try to run with the other dogs in the backyard.  It was comical and always a good laugh.
I didn't intend this post as a bashing of pits, quite the contary.  I loved my pits, but for me, I felt it was time to go in a different direction.

Scott would have to tell you about their breeding.
Scott is helping me out while I transition to the ABs and if not for him I'd be in dire straights.  His dogs are fitting right in and are already earning their feed.  Big thanks to Scott and his family.  Can't thank him enough.
15  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Made the switch to ABs on: May 03, 2014, 08:34:43 am
From my limited experience with ABs, I'd say they are faster and more agile.  My pits, and again, I'm no expert on pits or ABs, I just kept what I needed for catchdogs and can't tell you one bloodline from another, where strong and had decent speed.
But from my limited experience with these ABs, they run much more gracefully and with an ease that the pits didn't have.  We let out dogs out every afternoon to have play time and the pits would race around and we'd joke that they must have thought they were grayhounds when in fact that were not.  Their top speed movements were awkward and not too gracefull.  Watching the ABs is totally different.  Very smooth gait and also seems effortless.
But someone with years of pit experience may correct me and  say 'that's not so.'  I'm just speaking of the dogs I've had.

The red dog is one of my Kemmers.  That's all I run for bay/strike dogs.

Yes, that's Scott's dog Blade.
17  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Made the switch to ABs on: May 02, 2014, 07:45:46 pm
Thanks to some great members of the board, I made the switch from pits to AB's and so far I am a very, happy convert.  Caught a 200 lb boar 2 weeks ago with one AB and have added another 2 to the pack since then.  Today we put all 3 out on a 125-150 lb boar and they had him shut down and locked down.  The hog was so immobilized he couldn't even move or shake his head.   Grin
I also got off my lazy backside and built an upper deck dog carrier so I can seperate 3 dogs from the rest.  Should have built it years ago, but as they say, "hindsight is 20/20"
