1  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: digital viewing devices on: December 23, 2012, 05:39:56 pm
Moultrie makes SD card readers. The one I have has the 4.3 inch screen. You can download images to the viewer. Then delete them from the SD card and put them back in the camera. When you get home you can download to your computer. It also has zoom.Best 100$ you will spend.
2  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Back pain... on: July 21, 2012, 11:18:56 am
I feel for you, been there.I hurt my back when i was 19 in the USAF.I had surgery at age 22.I now work in the operating rooms monitoring the functions of the brain, spinal cord and nerve roots during lumbar and cervical fusions. When my back irriates me i take 2 tylenol and 4 ibupofens every 4 hrs.Make sure you get plenty of rest, lying flat on your back. You can place pillows under your knees .Only get up to got to the restroom.Low back pain affects 60-85% of adults.Fortunately the majority of people symptoms are mild and 90% subside in 6 weeks.Chronic low back pain, defined as syptoms lasting beyond 3 months affect 15-45% percent of the population.Epidural shots can help, but usually only mask the real problems. The only way to know for sure is a MRI.If you have one of these problems you will need surgery,HNP (herniated nucleus pulpous) the disc is ruptured, lumbar stenosis ( is the narrowing of the space where the nerve root exits the caudia equina to the muscle it corresponds.),lumbosacral spondylosis(degenerative changes). I would give it plenty of rest. There are different drugs out there that are non-narcotic that will help.If you are near Houston/ Clear Lake area I could speak with my neurologist and see who he reccomends.

Memory Verse: Hebrews 10:19-25

I. Introduction: Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “Let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another” (emphasis added). It’s true that some people can’t attend church due to physical limitations and others have no Bible-believing congregations in their area. But aside from those exceptions, everyone who wants to maintain a vital, growing relationship with Jesus Christ needs to be involved in a local body of believers.

II. Who originated the concept of church?

A. Scripture clearly teaches that the church was established by our Savior Himself (Matt. 16:16). He’s the Savior of the world, humanity’s only hope. This truth is the foundation upon which Jesus established the church, and no evil force can prevail against it.

B. Throughout history, all kinds of movements have come and gone. In contrast, the church—also called the body of Christ (1 Cor. 12:27)—has thrived for centuries and in our generation is growing quickly all over the world.

C. Why has the church survived despite changing times? Because it belongs to God, not to men and women. Jesus is the originator and sustainer of the church. Today He ministers to both believers and unbelievers through His body.

III. When Christians claim they don’t need church, what does that imply?

A. If we can walk closely with God without the fellowship of other believers, then assembling on Sunday morning is a waste of time. Those who believe this would say we don’t need other Christians for support, encouragement, or prayer.

B. If believers can maintain an intimate relationship with God apart from church involvement, then Jesus made a big mistake. After all, the church was His idea.

C. Of course, our Lord didn’t make a mistake when He established His church. You and I need other believers, whom God commands us to love as ourselves—a mandate second only to loving Him whole-heartedly (Matt. 22:37-39). It is in the context of community that we exercise our spiritual gifts, find encouragement to follow God’s will, and learn how to properly interpret Scripture.

IV. Why should believers assemble together as a church?

A. To worship: Worshipping Him lifts our spirits and strengthens our souls. Many of the songs are full of theological truths that educate us about the blessings we have in Him.

B. To learn the Word of God: In church, we often have the opportunity to learn from those with special biblical training or deep spiritual maturity. Be ready to check any teaching against the whole counsel of Scripture, since pulling verses out of context can lead to doctrinal errors.

C. To fulfill the Great Commission: As the body of Christ, we can send missionaries to far-off places. We support them through our prayers, letters or e-mails, and financial support. Together we fulfill the command to share the good news with the nations (Matt. 28:18-20).

D. To protect themselves: When someone stops attending church, it is almost inevitable that he or she will begin to drift away from God. Hearing scriptural truth each week helps in holding believers accountable to high moral, ethical, and spiritual standards.

E. To exercise spiritual gifts: These supernatural blessings, such as administration, organization, and mercy, are to be used “for the common good in the body of Christ” (1 Cor. 12:7).

F. To develop an atmosphere of support: The New Testament is full of advice on how to relate in love to one another.

G. To strengthen and broaden the Christian impact on the world: When believers are committed to a local fellowship, the influence of that church is greatly multiplied. God works powerfully through churches where each person sees himself or herself as making a valuable contribution to the ministry’s work.

V. Conclusion: Commitment to a local body of believers is the way to participate in fulfilling God’s purposes. There, you can receive solid instruction in the Word of God, participate in corporate worship, and find opportunities to exercise your spiritual gifts. Find a Bible-believing church in your area, and make an effort to get involved. Your life will never be the same.

4  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: for my religious friends... on: July 11, 2012, 03:41:34 pm
2 Timothy 3:16-17

"All Scripture is God Breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness,so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for good work."

Proverbs 15 :26

" The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord, but the words of the pure are pleasant."

Revelation 1:3

"Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near."

Romans 14:11

"For it is written,As I live, says the Lord(Jesus),every knee shall bow to me,and every tongue shall confess to God."

12." So then everyone of us shall give account of himself to God."
5  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Colt breaking question on: December 22, 2011, 01:25:47 pm
I start all my colts with a bosal. It keeps you out of their mouth. After about 30 days i use a snaffle bit then proceed to a myler cutting bit.I find the bosal gives the colt one less thing to think about when you are getting started.I also have my dad lead them around until they are comfortable.I teach them to work off of your feet with leg pressure before putting on a set of spurs. But some colts take a little more encouragement.I try not to teach them how not to buck and have trust in you.GROUND WORK is the key to starting young horses. If you teach them from the ground how to do things, when you get in the saddle its much easier.I never rush or beat a colt into submission.Trust and groundwork is everything.

My wifes gyp was cut 2 years ago.She made a complete recovery.Keep the dog on crate rest for 6 weeks until healed and then walking on a leash.A little at a time goes a long way.She had 2 surgeries the 1st  was 2 days after. The vet told me after a week i would have to take her somewhere else.My wife brought her to LSU and they did a wonderful job.You cannot tell she was ever cut.The surgeries were very expensive -  around 4,000 dollars.

18  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Hog Dog shot in south Louisiana on: November 09, 2009, 04:26:09 pm

It's not rifle season yet only archery. It's illegal to be hunting of any kind with a high-powered rifle. The dog was shot with 12 gauge fine shot to the head. The wadding was pulled from his brain.Obviously shot at close range. The law states there is nothing they can do unless he gets a lead.Pretty much case closed. He is offering a reward for any info. that leads him to the guilty party.
19  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Hog Dog shot in south Louisiana on: November 09, 2009, 02:18:23 pm

A buddy of mine was hunting on our 10,000 acre lease yesterday. He had dropped his dogs a couple of times with out catching any hogs.So he decided to go to a area that borders the Tickfaw State Park and a small lease. His dogs struck on a big hog and left out for a couple of hours. He got them back but they had crossed that lease and he caught them on the highway. We had other friends hunting that were on the other side of our  lease. They also was on a big hog and it crossed the lease and came to the general area he was hunting.Well, he heard their dog running .But it lost the track and came out to one of our roads. He was loading this dog in the truck when he looked up the road and saw a sow about 300 lbs cross. So he turned all the dogs loose and they ran this hog a couple of miles and then crossed the Tickfaw river. That area is not part of our lease.Well they hear a shot and some guy hunting with a rifle kills the sow. This guy had his girlfriend with him in the stand. After he gets down he asked his girlfriend to help him catch these dogs.So she was climbing down when she slipped and fell. They had to call air-evac / EMS to air-lift her to the hospital. As of last night she could not move her extremities.I do not know her name but please keep her in your prayers.I will post more info. when i hear something. Now to get to the topic of this subject .My friends dog was out from the earlier hunt and he couldn't find him last night. They found him on our main road this morning with a bullet hole in his head.As i write this he is meeting with the sheriff dept. Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries told him there was nothing they can do.Anyody in La. here of anything please P.M me.
