1  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Looking for a certain catahoula breeder on: May 01, 2012, 03:00:31 pm
Any of you Texas guys heard of a breeder that may go by the name of Red Diamond Catahoulas or maybe Red Man Catahoulas?  A friend of mine bought a dog from him about 10 years ago and can't find him anywhere online.
Thanks for any help.
2  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Any of you guys ever seen this! on: March 15, 2010, 11:32:25 am
I know there's no dogs involved in this post but this is insane.  I might do it with some different hogs but none with teeth this big! Shocked

9  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Sunday Hunt on: March 03, 2010, 07:58:50 am
Got a call from a buddy said he'd been seeing a bunch of hogs on his ranch so we decided to run the dogs just before dark. I was hoping for a short hunt being I had to be up for work Monday a.m. well as always I was wrong. I dropped the tailgate at around 7:00 pm and got on a hog around 7:30. I guess this was no rookie hog cause he went to the worst swamp on the property. We cut around the backside trying to cut him off with no luck by now we're a good mmile from the truck. The dog never gave up and 3 miles (straight line on google earth) I finally got my hands on the dog and leashed him and headed back to the truck. Had one other cur that doesn't hunt out as far that started winding and going nuts turned him loose and caught this hog about 20 yards from us. All in all it wasn't to bad of a hunt other than getting in bed at 1:00 a.m. Monday having to be at work by 6:30 :'(  I guessed him to be around 120-130 at the most and he was turned loose for another day.
10  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Airboat hunting 2/6 good trip on: February 08, 2010, 09:18:44 pm
Where I hunt from airboat is in the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes in Central FL.  There's over 20,000 acres legal to hunt year round night or day with dogs.  There's a place called Gardners Marsh which is the majority of the swamp which is (rough guess straight line) 4-5 miles deep and 7-8 miles wide. Yes a lot of times you can just ride and jump them but on this morning we started down wind anbout 2 miles of the hammock we wanted to end up in and would drop the dogs as we went.  Luckly we ended up with hogs every time we stopped.

Cetch you get that thing runnin and we'll go harass em.  Don't know of those guys but have probably seen them out there.  I like to post these kinda hunts on every site im a member on cause lord knows you don't get to many hunts with that many hogs in that little time.  i like to share the hunt with everyone.

What kind of sled you got? Is it ground power?
11'6" predator hull with a 160 lycoming.  Runs dry with 2 dogs and 2 180lbs guys all day long.
Cracker the waters up high in the marsh right now.  Miles of that country to hunt legal.

I thought it looked like a lycoming... had to ask. Running dry always makes me a bit nervous. What kind of undercoating you using?

What's AVGas running per gallon now days?

Is it legal to hunt past the high water mark where you're running?

We left with about 12 gallons @ 3.70 and rode at least 30 miles total trip and still had about 3-4 gallons left when we got in.  There is a little over 20,000 acres legal to hunt so there's plenty of land to dog year round day or night.  Most of us guys down here just run a slik bottom which is basicly gelcoat silicon and couple other things.

Lake Hatchineha and Kissimmee both are about 20 mins from my house.  Got a 13'6" Cottonmouth with a o540.  Goes pretty good with 3 dogs and two grown guys with a cooler and a full gas tank.  My buddy went out last night until around 1:30 a.m. and saw 5 that he said would go on his wall every doe he saw had a buck not far behind.

Is Ole "Rattlesnake" the Game Warden still running around down there on his airboat.......

Ol Cottonmouth airboats out of Davenport......  Smiley

I doubt it.  I'm not sure who that was but most the guys out there now are all young guys mid 20's.  Yep Cottonmouth from Davenport that's my grandpa that owns it.

Yeah those guys are tearing the speck up right now on Hatchineha.  That whole Reedy Creek area is loaded with huge deer.

Man that Jag looks good!  I think I'm going to get my hands on one they look like they would be pretty fast for these palmettos down here.  Plus I bet their cheaper to feed than these 70 lbs cur dogs.  Sorry to get off topic.  I use some vests made by Bayhead down here that are Kevlar that have worked great and held up pretty good.
