like the old man and others have said , science will never catch up with or understand genetics . i've not had a dog yet that needed training ... i've had 1 or 2 that needed killing ,but thats just keeping the gene pool good , the same as mother nature used to do with human beings and sooner or later is likely to do again hahaha

8  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: What’s In Your Cur Dogs on: April 18, 2019, 06:17:37 pm
i don't know whats in my dogs . the young dogs i have are half dr longs line . my original dogs go back thru the old man , bigo , ben jordan and back to the bigboyxblondie cross that ricky driver made years ago . it's been said that bigboy was a woodruff dog , from there nobody knows i reckon .

i guess they were bred between neibhors that had to have dogs to handle free range cattle and hogs in the woods and keep 2 and 4 legged varmints away , just like my folks had in central florida before 1900 .
9  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: RCD types and breeds yall are using on: March 28, 2019, 08:31:40 pm
well , i use my dogs both ways . if they bay cattle when i'm hog hunting i just let'em get them cattle settled and call'em off . if they bay hogs i do  the same but if they catch a hog while cowhunting i'l work him .

we don't have hogs right here but thats what i do when i go other places .

and i have seen 1 or 2 that would get on a hog track and go right thru a bunch of cattle and vice versa . i have been driving cattle and a dog be leading cattle , smell something in font of him and all of a sudden leave and get bayed on hogs.
10  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Briar Burn on: March 21, 2019, 07:07:33 pm

11  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Age old Question? on: March 20, 2019, 04:13:15 pm
oops i posted before i read the second place . i think it all boils down to what kind of pressure has been put on the hogs .
12  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Age old Question? on: March 20, 2019, 04:03:56 pm
thats exactly what i was trying to say cajun and slim .
13  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Age old Question? on: March 19, 2019, 07:44:46 pm
hogs are more like cattle than cattle are . if you misshandle them you will have to catch them with a damn rough dog or a rope and have dogs that'll stick till you get there .

catchdogs and guns have created more runners than genetics has .
14  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: 3/9/10 Hunt on: March 12, 2019, 07:19:21 pm

17  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Blackmouth cur question on: February 14, 2019, 06:13:15 pm
oh and i figure if a dog can run that much gas out of a deer it ought to be able to hang with a bad running hog ... if you could break him off trash  Grin

most wouldn't want one with that much bottom .
18  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Blackmouth cur question on: February 14, 2019, 05:32:54 pm

19  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Blackmouth cur question on: February 07, 2019, 04:26:10 pm
