I have that book, It is a good read and I don't read that much.
What about the Benny Coward bloodline from Oakhurst Tx. I had a male dog from this line and have some pups on the ground crossed with Weatherford Ben. Big, long legged, deep chested and can run all day, and ruff as they come.

I will have to disagree, it is not genetic it is Discipline, you have to get the dog attention. I don't main beating the dog but get the dogs attention. I have said this before, I teach my dogs three commands (Get Back) (Load Up) ( And the Call to Come Here) I start this as a pup.
Training, I use to have small hog pin about 50y by 100y, I would get about 3 or 4 hogs around 125lbs and have the dogs bay, I would go in with a catch dog and catch one, the dogs or pups would see the other pigs and would rather bay them than get hit buy the a 1" PVC pipe ( PVC works good because it is flexible not like wood). When the dogs leave to go bay the other pigs then turn the pig loose and start all over again.

I have only hunted her two times, she did go to the bay and bayed hard. portable kenneles, the only way to go. I have my kennels on 2" pipe skids one 12' x 24' with 4 kennels, and  2 are 12'x16' with 2 kennels, move them about every 5 or 6 month.

the biggist problum is, most people feed the pup and go in the house and don't spend enough time with them. Then they expect the dog to hunt and obey automatically when they turn 8 months old.  They dont play with the pup and maybe get in the dog house with the pups let them know who you are. I have some pups that are 8 weeks old and they have been to the pond to swim, been all thru the woods, down to the creek, riding the 4 wheeler, introduced to all kinds of things.  If I could figure out how to post pictures.
