My dogs are loving the cold weather. They get their Victor coated in oil and they are really getting spoiled. Even in this cold, Tyson is steadily gaining weight. Usually, they would be losing weight to shivering. Only bad thing is that when the cold is gone they won't want to eat dry kibble... Cheers M
What does that Victor cost a bag? and are you using Rice Oil?

Sometimes I feel like threads get turned into a pecker swinging contest!!!! The parents are only part of the equation. IF bred right a percentage of the offspring should outperform their parents. If not you are going backwards!!
I couldnt agree more. I am willing to submit to all breeders that I have nothing to compete with and I am not in competition with anyone. You are definately right about the dogs

If she will catch and has been proven then who cares if she is a house dog. She has it in her to do it. IMO that would be breed worthy. As far as starting out.. like this dog did.... some dogs have things that need to be corrected or learned but can be corrected or learned with time and experience. It looks like she has got it straightend out to me. I dont know all the drama behind this but this dog seems to catch very well and id like to have one but I guess everyones standards are different.
Thanks I appreciate that. She did get it figured out, it took her about 10 mins. though my mistake was taking that first video in the first 2 or 3 mins. and shareing it with everyone. I didnt realize it would be used against me later.

When people start trying to prove a point or brag bad things happen. Hope you have luck on your side!! ( No jabs were intended in this comment) No braggin here brother, I have nothing to bragg about, all my dogs are just dogs and thats all they will ever be I dont have a single dog I would call special, I had one once but he is dead and gone. I may never own another dog I can bragg on. This thread was directed to the fellas that have my pups and to no one else. I know exactly what you mean when you say "you hope I have luck on my side" You will never hear me say negative word no matter what is said about me or my dogs. I have learned my lesson

Thanks for the replies... I may give it a shot once she comes in... The number of pups isnt a big deal, as i would rather have a few and try to train them all myself and maybe give some to close hunting buddies.... Paul, what do you think about breeding her and Fred? Not sure if i want that ol Catahoula blood in her though!!! I think Fred would be a great choice. Jeremy said he was a proven reproducer

Trent there are certainly people on these boards that know more about this than me but here is my 2 cents for ya. Older dogs tend not to have as many pups as younger pups but as long as she is comming into heat she will more than likely take because she is passing eggs! as far as her nipple, even if that one nipple is non functioning the rest are probably fine. Layla raised 11 pups on 8 nipples. There might be a risk of Mastitis with her age and the fact she has never been bred. But I have hunted with that dog and would love to have a pup out of her. Good luck with her

She did really great job. How did you talk the wife into letting her go again? I didnt get a chance to see the other videos that you posted. I have noticed that there arent alot of people posting on here now that you have proved a point!
Most people dont care, there are just a few that want to poke and prod. Im sure they will get thier diggs in on this thread too but its really allrite. Some people need it to make thier day go better. I will try to make a video of just her in the next couple of weeks on a big hog with no other help. (If She Can Do It)

My son cut the video short, Layla was locked on long after the hog was dead, all dogs were caught and put on the lead. I left her on the hog to see how long she would stay. We got tired of waiting for her to come off so we broke her loose and led her out.

For all that have a pup of mine, I wanted to post a video of your pups mom on a Wild Hog hunt. There was some question a couple of weeks ago as to whther she was a CD? I just want to clear it up....She is a PET, sleeps at the foot of the bed every night and a great babysetter for our grandkids. Will she catch? Is she Hard enough? you be your own judge. I dont think you will see any regripping either. I didnt want you guys to see a picture of her, I wanted you to see her in action. I know she may not be bread a well as some of our AB specialist dogs on these boards. The only claim I am making is that she is a great family dog, she came from hog dogs, she catches HARD and she has raised two litters of pups who's owners have been very pleased with. The video that was posted last week was a video that I made and posted and it was her the first two mins. she had ever seen a hog. What you will see in this video is what she did just mins after that video was made and has been doing ever since. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did makin it for you. Oh yea she was caught on the ear the entire time so she beat at least one catch dog to the bay. (3 CD's)
