Ok boys, the first show has aired and the second will be on soon. They have the first one on their web page. The old boy with the dogs is a good friend of scdogman and my self, he is the real deal. I have caught hundreds of pigs with him and his dogs and he is a trip to hunt with.
The show is on surviving the hunt, at reaper outdoors

I use the smith and wesson handcuffs from our local pawn shop. You can't beat a pair of handcuffs on a big boar, just keep some WD-40 on hand to spray out the dirt and mud.

I know an old man that used to have some. They were wolf, pit, catahoula if I remember correctly. Looked like german sheppards for the most part, one was brendly. Not much hunt to them. I guess what you would call running catch dogs. Personally I wouldnt own one, mean nasty things.

I have hunted with a good many airedales and airedale crosses. The pure breeds are hot nosed, gritty, and hard hunters. They are tough as nails but come up lacking in finding abilty compared to dogs with more nose. They seem to do a lot better crossed with a hound.

If you are not looking to spend a fortune, check out the Bushnell elites. I put a 3200 on my sons rifle last year and have been verry pleased with it. It is a good quality scope at a reasonable price. Clearer than my Burris and gathers as much light with a smaller objective.
Also check out samplelist. It is a websight that sells refurbished and demo scopes. I have not purchased anything from them myself but some of my coworkers have and seem to be happy with them.

Your best bet is to run by the vet and pick up a bottle of drops. Can't remember the name of them but cost about $20 and lasts quite a while.
Other than that, keep his ears clean and you can swab them with a 50/50 solution of white vinigar and water (lowers the PH in there and makes it inhospitibal for yeast and bacteria)

I have them on all of mine. They are 100% tougher than the OEM. I haven't done any tests side by side in the woods but using them in the same places I used the oem antennas, I feel they get a little better signal. Nothing extraordinarily better though.

Sounds like you both are irresponsible dog owners. First thing you can do is get YOUR dogs under controal. Stop them from barking. This is most easily done with a bark collar or a water sprinkler set up in front of your kennels. There is no reason for dogs to bark uncontrollably. Second is to stop YOUR dogs from getting off their chains and getting after their cats. Dogs don't have thunbs and can't let themselves off, so something in the chain setup is failing. Find the weak link and fix it. I would be happy to post pictures and explain how to make a reliable chain rig if you would like. After your dogs are under controal you have a lot more room to complain about theirs. Not being ugly, just some constructive criticism.

A wise old dog man once posted " if you have a good dog that has been performing consistently for that long, you better consider his health if he suddenly starts performing poorly". More than likely it's a health issue if he has been performing well for that long.
Heart worms and brucilosis come to mind on this one. I could be off on this but he sounds like he is worth getting checked out by a vet. Keep us posted on it.

I wouldn't trade out your 30s for 40s, but the 40s are good collars. I am getting around 800 to 900 yards consistantly with the rubber antenna on the handheld in these SC swamps. Charger and actual collar are better.
