HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Hunting dogos

Is anyone hunting their dogos like a cur ? As in, they cast them into a wood lot or field. A lead in catch dog doesnt count. Most I’ve seen are either lawn ornaments or lead in catchidogs.

HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Know it alls

It's amazing how many folks know everything on this board. Just cause you ain't seen it done don't mean it can't be done. A hog is smart but not that dang hard to catch. This board used to be really good but has gone down hill the last couple years. What ever happened to just listening to folks talk. No need to see who can pee higher on a tree. If you don't agree, keep your mouth closed. If someone asks, give your opinion. I constantly listen to others and absorb the knowledge. I pick out info that I think is useful to what I want in a dog. Smart people listen, fools argue.

2 big ear dogs can hold a boar a long time if they don't fight the hog. First time I seen 2 80lb dogs CONTROLLING a 275lb boar, a light bulb came on. A buddy and I've caught plenty good boars with 2 dogs. Hell, my best dog can handle 250lb hogs by himself in the woods.

No matter the dogs size, they all have a hard time keeping up with a hog in really thick brush, briars, etc. If ur dog can run a 50lb pig down in really thick briars, you have an extraordinary dog. i don't care how old you are, no one has hunted in every situation, with all the different breeds and crosses. There are too many variables. Conversations like this really show folks level of intelligence.

I have 2 females that I don't hunt. One guy had 2 really good dogs off of one of the females. I told him that the mother had never been to a bay. She'd only caught 1 or 2 hogs in the woods. He told me I was crazy for breeding him. I asked him if he liked the 2 dogs off of her. He promptly shut up. The female was breed "right". These 2 femsles are fired up and throw a high percentage of good rough hog dogs. I have a granddaughter to one of them that has her grandmothers fire. She's gonna get breed after I hunt her more. For some reason Id rather have a brood female than male.

2 ways of catching a runner. Catch it before it has a chance to run or catch it when it decides to stop. I prefer the first.
