I have 6 dogs that I really have no use for, nothing wrong with them other than haven't been worked much on hogs!! All dogs are current on shots and have been really well taken care of. Below are all the dogs I'm getting rid of, need to go to a good home, someone who will actually take care of and hunt them. Make me a reasonable offer or I might be interested in trading something I can use for hunting other than dogs. Call or txt anytime, I have many other pics I can send on request. All dogs are people/kid friendly No dog aggression I have had all of these dogs since they were at least 6 weeks old, some were born on my place. HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Awesome Weekend- Gator Country Hunt
|
on: February 26, 2013, 10:20:10 am

Txhog, I just hunted a contest caught 25 hogs, let's all make this real simple. Enter hallettsville and let the score sheet do the talking. If your not going to enter because of whatever then I don't think you need to be running your mouth how many hogs you can catch or not. Til those hogs are turned in at the contest it's all a bunch of talk!!! Not saying im going to win anything just saying if you catch all the hogs everyone says they catch they shouldn't be ashamed of entering.

Clint, I think it's the other way around, maybe y'all are jealous cuz you can't catch any good boars that's why y'all are complaining so much about not being able to use barrs in contest. Stop trying to put the shoe on the other foot. Realize ppl down here don't cut hogs because they actually help eliminate hog problems instead of making them eat more!! So we will never cut hogs to take advantage of, or as y'all say make them TASTE better!!!

With all due respect both those hogs I caught had nuts, it is odd to catch a 400 lb hog with nuts after catching 100's before catching him. So if you say you catch 400 pounders with nuts all the time then hunt a contest without barrs and win it fair and square.
If you caught a hog that was a boar why did you cut him? Because he wasn't a big hog that would win contest, so you cut him so he would get big making it easier to win. Sure barrs fight like boars might be harder to catch sometimes but it's not how it's supposed to be. I can't help that no one down here cuts hogs because they would lose their spots in a hearbeat, so how am I supposed to compete in contest with barrs when there's none to catch. It's only fair to enter boars. If it's that big a deal to ppl then go put on a barrs only contest so you can compete fairly against other ppl who catch barrs.

To all of you who won't enter contest because they don't except barrs!!
I believe that just goes to show how much you need barrs to win a contest. If you cannot go hunting in a spot that does not have barrs and catch real hogs that can compete with everyone else then sell your dogs and Please find another hobby. Stop trying to blame all the ppl who have eliminated barrs from contest, it's not there fault they have real dogs that can compete in a hunt without having to worm there way to the leader boards by catching barrs that naturally should have nuts and weigh alot less. If you think I'm wrong by saying this think again, not everyone has barrs on their hunting spots but I do believe everyone does have boars. So if you don't want to get involved in contest that don't allow barrs then apparently you can't hang with the real hog hunters. Sry to be that harsh but this has been talked about way to much on here. I'm not calling anybody out or trying to make anybody look bad just shedding a little light. These contest are supposed to be so dog and man can compete FAIRLY against other hunters without having to cheat to beat everyone else. If you don't think that is cheating then go rob a store cuz apparently stealing is ok also !!

HOG & DOGS / HOG HUNTING CONTESTS / Re: ******POLL*******Barrs: TDHA Hunting Contest
|
on: December 16, 2012, 12:20:51 pm
|
Not trying to stir anything up, just a few things caught my attention. A couple post said, how is it fair to go hunting and chase a Barr all night and get dogs cut up if a Barr is not excepted. Here's my thought, I've never caught a Barr simply because we don't cut and turn loose so I can't be upset by that rule, however I can be upset when I hunt hard just like everyone else and my dogs get cut on a BOAR that hasn't been caught before then get beat by BARRS when the rules say no previous caught hogs. I don't consider it to be cheating cutting hogs then wait til they get big then hunt them again, but it's an advantage. Barrs will get bigger faster than boars and tend not to roam like a dominant boar. So placing BARRS in an area to make a big honey hole just isn't true hunting in my book. It may be a tradition or an advantage to others but this year the rules simply say no BARRS it's clearly laid out. This is a hunting competition which means go out, catch hogs, enjoy the woods and your dogs. Do your best to follow all rules and the main thing is have fun. Just cause it's a competition doesn't mean go find a way to bend the rules. In my mind I don't care if I win or not, it means more to me to catch hogs with my dogs that I know hasn't been caught before, then going out to a spot already knowing what's there. It's a rule this year so deal with it, if all your spot consist of just BARRS and you feel like you have no chance to catch a boar then it's pretty simple. Don't enter this competition, there's no sense creating a problem, the rule is what it is this year. Good luck to all, hope everybody has good hunting and most importantly stays safe.
