Slimhogdog, Turdburd, and I went on a Sunday Morning hunt. We let all the dogs out the boat. 10 minutes later, Ginger(parkerxcat) struck one in the swamp. The rest of the pack caught up with her and we had a hell of a bay.(best one i heard in while) We finally made it through the swamp, and let the CD go. They hit face to face and was caught solid. Slimhogdog was bringing the wounded back the boat when Turdburds gyp Dixie(cat) struck another. Turdurd and I let the bay dogs go and two of them caught.. Because of how bad the swamp was; we turned the CD loose also. The sow was caught solid! Long story short we caught two good pigs in less than an hour. I completely agree because no one is going to take care of or worry about your dogs as much as you. They may tell you they will be careful or watch out for them but if the worst happens and you aren't there who is to say they are trying their hardest to fight for your dog or to keep it alive?
THATS A BIG X 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!size=10pt][/size]

For me, its not that I can't accept the fact that #2 could happen when I'm not there. Rather, its because that I know #2 can happen at any moment.....I want to be there to deal with it when it does. For example, if a dog gets hurt so bad in the field that it may need to be put down, I'm the only one that's making that call and I can't make it if my dog is there without me. That's just one of hundreds of examples I can think of.
Thats exactly how i think!!! If something happens I want to be there when it does and thats that. If something happens i want to know that EVERYTHING was done to save my dogs life and i guess only me being there is the only way to be sure. Thanks for the responses guys they are great!!!!

I have a two year old cat gyp that i got from a friend. He says she gets out to about 600 yds or so. i showed her a pig just to see and she loves it, but in the woods she acts like she wants to go, but doesn't. I've had her about 3 weeks i'm going to give her a month or two. to her defense we are not all over the pigs. IMO i think it takes a cur dog a while to get warmed up; especially a full Catahoula.

Slimhogdog, Turdburd, and I went made a quick Saturday evening hunt. So we loaded the boat, and headed out. We turned the dogs out on a couple of spots, but nothing came of it. So we decided to go to a spot where we were getting a few on camera right at dark. We let the dogs out, and Ginger, our gyp, struck 200 yds. away. The other 3 dogs met up with her. They bayed for a minute or two, but the hog broke. For some reason, our older dog Ricky Bobby came back along with our puppy Dixie. By then, Slim and Ginger stopped the hog and were baying it again. The GPS had them baying about 600 yds. away along a bayou. So we jumped in the boat and took a 10 minute boatride around the lease to get to where they were baying. Our CD is in heat so we left her home. So we are hoping that the bay dogs can handle this hog. We hit the bayou bank 60 yds. from the bay. We let Ricky Bobby out the boat, and he went straight in and grabbed the pig on the ear. It was all she wrote then. It was good to see the dogs bay that long! sorry for the face i was making in the secon pic. the pig was trying to get up.LOL
