4  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: American Hoggers on: October 29, 2013, 11:09:12 pm
Seeing American Hoggers and not being impressed at all! but to see the pink thong on that chick Katie was disgraceful. The filthy talk too. What a disgrace to real hog hunters.

6  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Recurve Bow on: January 09, 2013, 03:35:50 am
Does anyone have any idea where I can get a recurve bow for my 16 year old daughter?  She has been wanting one for over 5 years now. She is a leap year baby so I don't have much time left to get it for her 17th birthday. She is deadly with a sling shot, BB gun, shotgun, rifle and pellet gun (her fav gun) and now she really really wants this bow. Please help me.

I got Czul from a lady in Placedo. I've thought about breeding them but they r really big dogs. Cross between Olde English Bulldog and Pitt Bull. Awesome dog.

10  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / My Boys on: January 05, 2013, 04:10:31 pm
Here is a pic of my house dogs. I really don't like guns (I own a Glock 9mm just in case) so I have my home defense system.

Czul is 3 year old red/white Arkansas Giant and Hammer is Bully Pittbull that is 6 months old.

Love my boys. They are resting on their couch. LOL.

Try running catch dogs. Might work.
12  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Surprise litter on: September 21, 2012, 07:40:36 pm
The pups are brutes. Big big pups. Rio has huge head. He is my fav of the pack. Started out as my "yard" dog but got a lil too protective of me and the kids. Guess his calling was hunting anyways.
13  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: What do you expect out of your dogs? on: September 21, 2012, 07:38:35 pm
I somewhat agree with too much handling being bad. Our dogs are hunted 4-5 nights a week. We don't use too much handle at all. We just make sure we have control over our dogs.
Different strokes for different folks.
14  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Red cur mixed with what?? on: September 20, 2012, 04:58:33 am
Our greyhound crosses used to get in front to stop them. Not sure why. They would jump over the hog and everything. Looked like they were playing with it. They never got cut though. Both lived to 14 years old. Worked cows first 3 years of life then hogs the rest. Love greyhound crosses.
15  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Why yellow? on: September 20, 2012, 04:55:41 am
We got rid of our pure BMC. Too hard headed for me. We prefer spotted Running Walker crosses, BMC crosses are awesome. Just don't really like the pure breds. No catahoula in my kennels at all. Best catch dog we e er had was Pitt/BMC. Name was Hitman. All 35 pounds of him was heart. Yella dogs are easy to cull though. Either they are jam up or crap. Not much in between. IMO. Too much crap out there now a days. We breed our own pretty much. Know what we got.
16  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: BOTTOM on: September 20, 2012, 04:46:53 am
I'm confused. If you have a rough dog that will catch when he finds one, he don't have to have a whole lot of bottom. He might have to run a little ways to catch up but then race is over. My dogs better put teeth on his rear and shut him down.  I'm not chasing my dogs all over after one pig. If they can't put teeth on it fairly quickly then they better find another one. We don't keep dogs like the ones you are describing on here. Land not an issue. We have close to 30,000 acres we hunt exclusively. I don't want to b out all night chasing one pig when we could've had 5-6.
17  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: What do you expect out of your dogs? on: September 20, 2012, 04:37:36 am
We get handle on our dogs first. They come off hog on command. They get behind bike on command. They stop hunting on command. They come when called. Takes longer to get tht done on some but that's why we only hunt one young dog at a time with 4-5 older dogs. They seem to learn better by example. I know I will prolly get some feedback on the coming off hog on command, but we like that. We have hunted some crazy crap and could not get to them in rosé hedge. Have to b able to call them out. We mostly hunt open prairie now and rice fields. All four wheeler accessible. We like to enjoy the hunt and not really have to work so hard at it. I love to watch the dogs work. Nothing greater than seeing that moment a young dog turns on and figures it out. Not sure how far our dogs range out so I guess they go as far as they need too. LOL. We have been hunting for over 20 years and we are just not that mad at the hogs anymore. It's about the dogs now and how they work and progress. I have a Pitt now that I'm working with to have the handle our other dogs do. He runs on ground and does pretty good. Hits like a freight train. He's gettin there. Just a personal challenge for us I guess jut to c if we can do it. LOL.
18  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Blue Tic Crosses on: September 20, 2012, 04:22:47 am
We have a 6 month old male 1/2 blue tick 1/2 lab. I'll let you know how he comes along. Right now he's just a dumba$$.
19  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: How long on: September 20, 2012, 04:11:14 am
Our dogs grab rear end and hold on til hog stops. Once it turns n faces them they keep its attention. They don't make a sound til hog is stopped and facing them. If they do get noisy on trail they move into someone else's kennel. We usually give our dogs until a year old. If they are not where we think they should be they move on. We have gotten rid of a lot of good dogs tht turned out great later but just wasn't fast enough for us. Got one now that gettin close to movin on.
20  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Crazy Dog Ranch Hog Dogs on: September 20, 2012, 04:01:03 am
Our dogs are crossed up as you can tell. We do select breed though. All started with Newt (1/2 Running Walker and 1/2 BMC).  We love dogos and big dogs. They work for us. Some of our dogs like Flash came in as rescues. As long as they have heart they work for us. We prefer taking 2 strike lead dogs and 3 catch. Unfortunately most of our catch dogs end up striking hogs. LOL. All of our dogs run on the ground. Our dogs are silent on the trail until the hog is stopped and facing them. Our 2 main lead dogs do not catch and hold. We prefer that. Our catch dogs hold hog until Chris tells them to GET OUT and then they let go and get out of the way. They will re-catch if they need too but we don't like fighting with dogs to come off. Our dogs will kill occasional coon in rice field, skunk on road, opossum on road but they will not bark at it. They do not chase deer or cattle. We do not start pups in a pen. They learn on the hunt from the older dogs. We hunt on four wheeler only. Our dogs are not for everyone and our style of hunting is not for everyone. It works for us and that's all that matters. My kids can handle every dog we have, bathe them, trim toe nails, lead them and some have been to local pet shows. I will have to get pics of the rest of our pack and add them later. Have 4-5 more grown dogs.
