No money in this business.  Just for fun. Show owners make their money from sponsorships. Many do not make money or it takes years to build before they do.

Thanks Ryan. Thought they edited it well. Do agree...maybe next time we can talk more on the dogs, their breeding and how they are working.
8  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Hog Hunting on Carnivore TV on: September 04, 2015, 09:19:42 am
Good info. Everything we did will be on a real hunt. Nothing staged, nothing released.  I requested a few things I would like to see make the editing...but unfortunately I do not get a final say on how the show is edited or spun. This is filmed by hunters and the editors are hunters. Gary Robertson the shows host, is one of the most knowledgeable dog people I know.

I asked to show a lot of my main two strike dogs...how they are ranging and how they are rolling out after a caught hog. Not sure how they will get portrayed on the show. I didnt think to talk about how they were bred. Id like a short intro on each dog.

Hopefully we will do a few more shows and that is something they will do. Thanks for the comments!

Rex

Ok so im lost, are ya'll saying that american hoggers used a tame hog for their show that 1 of you raised from a piglet or am i mistaken??? Sadly i wouldnt put it past them but i cant imagine they would let it get out......

I assumed it was common knowledge and everyone on here knew how they filmed. But yes...

The other knuckleheads typically bring their hogs. I know for a fact they hunted filmed on a place with no hogs, brought their own hogs and spray painted  color on hogs to get more footage.

Old Wilber but the dust......... he had the good life fora while.
Was it just me or did that hog toss that white dog around a lot ?

He did...I cant believe they stuck him. You know he was tied or in a fence when they filmed.
Get it right kid...the hogs name was Tank.

He was pitching some dog around...maybe the dog didnt have any teef. It was having a hard time hanging on. The hog appeared to have his back legs tied up to me.

There has been lots of threads on this...there no doubt the show has gotten ridiculous and seems to get worse as it goes on.  Lot of people say the cast of hunters are good people....some have said otherwise. What you cant argue is how dumb a person can look on tv. I watched parts of it tuesday for the first time in month or so...the hog you are referring to is 375 lbs to be exact.

15  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: In bad need of protection on: May 30, 2013, 10:05:51 am
Great pyrenees or anatolian guard dogs are best way to go.  Snares, grease sponges, bait hooks are all good methods but a person must run traps every 1-2 days and know how to trap.

If you live in Llano there are plenty of local ranchers that have access to predator removal...ask around. There may be government trappers there as well. Lampasas county has two, burnet county one and neither are not much of a sheep and goat area any longer.

You can also find good knowledgable trappers for a small fee in your area...go to the local feed stores. A good Guard dogs will work much harder and better than a donkey.
16  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: How to take Game out of boar meat on: April 26, 2013, 10:04:43 am
How do y'all take the gamey taste out of a boars meat?

In my opinion...the best way would be to kill a sow.  Grin

If I do decide to cook a pig...I put them on ice for couple days. Drain water and add ice as needed. I feed most to buzzards.
17  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: American Hoggers on: April 26, 2013, 10:00:41 am
No problem...everyone has their opinions. I was just commenting on how ridiculous this show and other similar ones have become. Im not doubting those guys are good people or may have a good dog or two. Ive never met them or hunted with them so I cannot make judgement.

It just crazy how goofy people will act to be on tv and a little bit of spare money. The girls are the worse. Im embarrassed for them. Im sure Ill be flipping through channels again and stop to see what happens....so I cant say too much.

Im sure people that duck hunt feel same about duck dynasty, alligator hunters on swamp people, storage buyers on storage wars....its all a bunch of terrible acting, tricky editing and ridiculous storylines...but it must keep many watching or it wouldnt be on any longer
18  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: American Hoggers on: April 25, 2013, 09:38:31 am
I catch myself watching this show while flipping through the channels. Its so terrible....I have to  Grin....I guess $150 a day to film is worth the embarrassment to some. I understand they have to use precaught hogs to get footage but dang the story lines and fake acting and editing is getting extreme.

I bet the "500 lb Hog" Creek ends up finding is really 375 lbs and has one eye....  Grin

American Hoggers, Duck Dynasty, Storage Wars...they all getting so far fetched they are no longer entertaining
19  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Gators are getting bad already on: April 23, 2013, 10:49:34 pm
That first picture is several years old
20  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: American Hoggers on: April 17, 2013, 12:00:56 pm
Its not real....its all staged. They are precaught...turned out hogs...a lot of times spray painted....thats fact!! . The drama is staged, the hogs are typically the same hogs.

Guess it really doesnt make the sport look bad....but it is hard to watch knowing what they do.  It is a little entertaining on how dumb they look to people that actually do this
