Bambi is supposed to be out of Michelle mears stock, and beeline was found on the road as a pup, so who knows, I guess they are some kind of cur bulldog mix.

HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / scrappy boar hog

Well picked a night where everybody wanted to go, and the 4 of us set out around 9pm. We got to where the hogs have been and we set out on foot. I walked ahead with my 2 dogs and Bret Hung back walking slower. Only 5 minutes later I could hear a little commotion, but not much, and no dogs treed. I started heading back the way we came where brets dogs were now, still not treed, but making a little more noise, so I really didn't want to let the catch dog go just yet. Finally the dogs come up treed, but I see my buddys light there already so I keep the catch dog leashed. I missed all the action. I guess brets dogs had the hog caught, beeline was on the head, bambi was doing her best to bar the hog, so it was sitting down but still going to town on beeline. Bret gets there, gets his hands on the hog, which is still fresh and hasn't run yet, and the hog proceeds to somehow shake Bret off, shuck the 2 dogs, charge Bret and then run off. Bret tries to get the dogs back on the hog, and end up finding the hog him self a couple hundred yards away, with no dogs around. He hollers for the dogs, and now all 3 dogs get there, and no catch dog needed. It was pretty quiet, I couldn't tell what was going on so I just took my time trying to listen for a good time to let spaz go. Bret says that the first time a hog has got away after he had his hands on it. We usually barr and release, but he already had some good teeth so we killed him. ![](http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/bluka987/IMAG0342.jpg) A little better than 2 1/2" both sides ![](http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/bluka987/IMAG0344.jpg) Bambi and beeline, beeline got beat up pretty good, but nothing major.

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / swamp shoes?
|

I have my nasty old new balance shoes that I usually wear, but they started coming apart pretty quick.
I've also got a tall pair of lacrosse boots, and they are ok untill water comes over the top, and then they suck. Even with the zipper on the side they are hard to get off, and even when they are dry they give me blisters on long walks.
So I have been searching for a solution.
The best I have found is a shoe by Columbia called outpost hybrid 2. It's a water/tennis shoe, with mesh so its fast draining and drying.
Bad thing is, no ankle support, and I'm not sure how well the mesh will hold up walking through brush and palmetto.
Anyone got any ideas? Or what works for you?

![](http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x323/bluka987/IMAG0322.jpg) I found this box on Craigslist, and it turned out perfect, 40" deep, and 48" wide. So there is room for 2 people to sit on the box. I had 4 guys and 6 dogs in the ranger deisel doing 35mph in the groves.

Man, I missed out.
Things didn't end up working out like I hoped. I was sick, truck in the shop, figured out last minute my trailer running lights didn't work, so couldn't bring my dog box, got a bubble in my tire on my way up. To top it off my dad smokes cigarettes in his house, and it was bothering me so bad I couldn't sleep at all.
I only hunted that first morning, caught a small sow, while I was dragging that one out my dog magic went to cajuns dogs and I didn't get there till they had the sow dragged out of the swamp. Clint told me I showed up at the right time, cause it was nasty in there, ha.
I had a bigger hog bust out on the road right next to magic, and he stopped him quick, but when I let the catch dog go he got slowed up in the palmettos. The hog broke and some loud blue long eared dogs came out of no where, and my catch dog went to chasing them around. Never got the hog stopped again.
I planned on meeting you all, but it just wasn't a good week for me.

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Started debate with my wife needs finishin, dog aggression over food
|

My dogs are loose in the yard when I feed them, but I keep their bowls away from each other. They all go their spot and wait. I believe It's natural for a dog to growl at another dog if approached while eating, I don't think it needs to be learned from another dog.
Now growling at me I will not stand for. I make it a habit to stick my hand in the bowl while they are eating, from pups ill put them on their back if they growl.
On the other hand I can put a bowl of food down in another spot and all of my dogs will eat together with no problems.

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / conkeys dc 40s

So I was ready for a couple dc 40s. I had bought a replacement antenna from conkeys already, and had also seen a bunch of good feedback here about him. He's got the best prices of anywhere I could find, really great service, and I got my collars and a wire lead THE NEXT DAY AFTER I ORDERED. He emailed me back within an hr every time, and was available on the weekend to take my order. I have never ordered anything online with such great service, although I also recommend wildboarusa. Check him out. http://www.conkeysoutdoors.com/catalog/

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Florida hurricane sandy- surf video
|
on: October 28, 2012, 08:12:53 pm
|
well, we didnt get a ton of rain, thank god, because we are already saturated, but we got some good winds and some storm surge. ITs about 3 feet over our normal high tides still, and sandy is gone. we also got some ground swell, and let me tell you I have lived here all my life, 25 years, and never seen it like this. we got waves, its hard to say how big they are, because you measure a wave from the back, but the face of the wave can be two or three times the hight of the back. We also are getting some strong offshore wind which holds up the face of the wave and creates barrels. now you have to understand, florida is not known for surf like this, I wouldnt say its once in a lifetime, but these conditions are rare, and I have been spending a lot of daylight after work just watching the waves. I drove 30 minutes south today to where this video was taken jjust to stand on the beach and watch. I find it hard to leave the beach when its like this. My boss is in the video, on the jet ski, they were doing what is called "step offs" meaning you position the jet ski on the wave doing about 30 mph, then the guy on the back jumps off with his board and rides it out. I think its pretty impressive and thought I would share. I was working during this video, but I hope to get out there and sling them into a few before the swell is gone. Im not a surfer myself, but I ride skis every day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fGOg8XhOBmQ
