1  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Latest Buck Grunt Calls on: October 10, 2019, 09:02:54 pm
Thanks!!

I started making them as a hobby, but the boss got tired of all of them on the counter.  So now i make them and sell them.  I also make turkey strikers and locator calls (crow calls).  Gonna start making owl and turkey pot calls closer to turkey season.

Chipolariverman:

If you read the statue animal cruelty is a 1st degree misdemeanor in Fl.  In order for an arrest to be made in Fl on a misdemeanor it needs to occur in the presence of a law enforcement officer.  There are a few Misdemeanor Exceptions to this, however I can tell you this aint one of them.  Just an FYI.

Here is the Florida statue.  Now the question would be is the removal of hair and altering of the hair follicle mutilating?  To me it is not, to most SAO prosecutors I wouldnt think so but.... you never know.  Just an FYI working a hog in a pen in Fl is also illegal and falls under this exact statue.

828.12 Cruelty to animals.—
(1) A person who unnecessarily overloads, overdrives, torments, deprives of necessary sustenance or shelter, or unnecessarily mutilates, or kills any animal, or causes the same to be done, or carries in or upon any vehicle, or otherwise, any animal in a cruel or inhumane manner, commits animal cruelty, a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or by a fine of not more than $5,000, or both.

12  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Where the heck did all my hogs go??? on: February 10, 2016, 05:00:56 pm
Neighbors dont mess with them, hunting or trapping.  Its been a REALLY wet year for us this year and all the places around mine are flooded (mine is real wet too), so i dont know where they would find any food that i dont have on my place.  We didnt get hardly any acorns this year either, and if they know there is free corn every night?Huh??.. at a loss.
13  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Where the heck did all my hogs go??? on: February 09, 2016, 04:25:22 pm
Ive got a smal 40 acre piece that my family owns that i can pretty much do as i please.  Only down side is there are some houses around so running dogs is out.  I put up a feeder a few months back and a camera on it, and almost instantly i had hogs coming in.  Down side is there dont show up on any kind of a schedule, so I cut back the amount of times the thing went off and about three weeks ago they started showing up at regular intervals.  I had three groups coming in with anywhere from 20 to 30 head in each group.  One group would show up about 5 minutes before feed time, one about midnight and thaast at about 2am.

Went out three weeks ago and swapped out the cards and sure enough the night before i swapped them out it was the same pattern, went and hunted a week after i swapped cards based off the memory card times four nights straight and nothing.  The last night i was there i pulled the card and not one dang hog.  Checked it every week since, including just a minute ago and not one single hog.

Its not palmetto berry season so.... I and the few guys ive talked to are at a loss.

Anybody got any ideas?

On a side note, the deer and turkeys are hitting the feeder,  and just in time for turkey season.

15  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Muletape on: January 28, 2016, 04:28:21 pm
Hard to tell but the second video looks like i tie mine.  I take 6ish foot piece of mule tap and put a small loop in one end.  usually a bowline knot, then run the tail through that to make a loop.  The first foot goes in that loop then i usually put a half hit on top of it (dont know why probably not needed).  Then from there i go to the opposite front leg and throw a clove hitch in it, then back to the other back leg with another clove hitch then the last front foot with another clove hitch, topped with a half hitch.

When i untie, i start with the first leg, undo the bowline which slacks the half hitch, and then go to the clove hitches.  very rarely do i have to cut the line, if i do its usually out of laziness.

the idle circuit is seporate from main jet,the choke would alow carb to pull fuel in thru main jet but it sounds like its clogged up.with todays crap fuel if you let it sit without use it will gum up the main jet with green looking stuff.drop the bowl unscrew the main jet in upper center of carb with regular flat blade driver and clean it out .dont burr it up .when u get it going add fuel stablelizer or make sure you run it out of gas before storing.

20  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Question for the guys from Florida. on: August 29, 2015, 02:18:58 pm
there is really no telling what made up the dogs here in florida.  you can breed two yellow dogs together and get a litter of black and tans, reds, etc.  If I had to guess about the hound bulldog thing, I would tend to think it would be the old time bulldogs that were used as stock dogs.  as for the hound?  my yellow dogs do/did have some houndy looking ears.  some not though. lol
