For a dog with ear canker, which is a black crusty yeast smelling discharge, a dog will shake its head alot,and skratch at its ears. I use a 20 oz squirt bottle fill it about 3/4 full with Witch Hazel, then add 4 or 5 teaspoons full of Boric acid,then add 15 or 20 drops of Gentian Violet, shake well, put in dogs ears 2 times a day by rubing it in ears for 2 weeks, then 1 time a day for 2 weeks will clear it up. Ear canker is hard to get rid of but this works well, a vet came up with this recipe. Alot of times guys think their dog has ear mites and its ear canker.
