HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Dogo breeders

The topics was about dogo breeders and where to buy a pup.
The way I see it is If you don't care for dogos keep your opinions locked up. Some of us do like them. I own 9 dogos,5 hounds,2 curs,3 pits and I CATCH HOGS. I have given away more curs than I have sold Dogos!!! Not bashing curs I like them as well. There is to many wanna be dog experts out there.

Most of the doggers down south run dogos because we have alot more hogs then the guys up north. Boys up north need those hi powered dogs(curs) to find a hog. Down here we need alot more catch. You boys are chasing dogs all day and night and we are killin swine all night with the Dogos. Just my 2 cents

That would not be fare for southtexasdogger. Ol chuck is probably worth more than the other guys whole pack. It would be like John Force racing Joe Blow at the local home town track Title for Tiltle.LOL

If caneycreek hog doggers are so bad then they should jump on Mr.Tanners (southtexasdogger) hounds then they can see if they really have any hog dogs or not? He is in their back yard. I don't think money will be any problem for him to put up. Hell I will put up all the money to see that one.
I will put ALL my money on the hounds. Any 1 of those 3 hounds would be my 1st pick anywhere they go!!!!!! And thats a fact not an opinion.

I have heard of this dog Chuck and not on ETHD either. He is already a legend it seems. Pretty neat to see him show up on this board. I guess bigfoot will be next. lol.
Boarninja,
This dog Chuck is a VERY VERY nice dog. I tryed everything I could to buy him about 3 weeks ago for ALOT of Money!!!!!! and got laughed at. I hunted with them on a ranch that did'nt have alot of sign. When we drove up to the ranch there was another dogger about to turn out So we all teamed up and hunted together. Southtexasdogger brought CHUCK and 1 BAD Black pit. He left the other dogs in the trailer. The other party had 6 YBMC's Chuck rode with us on the Ranger. We watched the YBMC's work for about 1 1/2 hours with no strikes. The curs were hunting 200 to 400 yrds out and nothing. We ran into the landowner and he said that a couple of hours ago he seen a big pig cross the road by an old well. So we headed that way trying to get any sign from the curs, nothing.
We casted Chuck out within 10 min he hit the track and had a bay by himself 440 yards out. Only 2 curs went to the bay for help. The old boy that was hunting with us had a big Ridgeback catch dog that he turned out about 100 yrds out that would not catch. Boar about 300+. We walked in and seen him standing back baying. Very embarrasing for him. We went back and got Socks (the pit) and sealed the deal. Back to Chuck he is truley a Super,Super hog doggin machine. I have witnessed him several times now do amazing things. I or anyone else can't buy him but Southtexas has a litter of pups coming out of Chuck that should be very nice. I have my deposit already in on 2. He also has (3) 8 month old pups out of Chuck and a YBMC thats a really nice baydog. Two of them are really working great alot like Chuck being smart.
For the Cur guys im not picking on yall It was a very windy day and conditions were tough but, in the long run Ol'Chuck pulled through again. If I was his owner I would retire him and sell pups all day everyday.
Anyone thats ever hunted behind him knows what im talking about. Everyones 1st opinion towards Chuck is (Oh my gosh I have to have him How much?) and they get laughed at.
Great post Matt

Mr.Mason.
I've heard good things about you from here. If you do find a dog that will work for me let me know asap. I would like to see your bay pen. The old man I hunted with told me I needed to build one and you had a nice one to see. I come to Houston several times a month with my dad. I could come by your place.

Thanks,
I will stay in touch on raising dogs. Our kennels are being built now. Should have room for around 30 dogs. I would like to have a good team of dogs probably 7 to 10 now. My dad and I talked about raising some later on thats why he built the kennels so big. And I thinks you are correct about hunting with several diff dogs before I pull the trigger on some dogs that might be trash. When I called Southtexas dogger last night this was the 1st thing he suggested was to not get in any hurry. He said I can have all the money in the world and have 30 dogs that wont catch hogs. Or I can have 7 to 10 dogs that will get the job done. He also told me money was no issue for him either and he has been hunting hogs for over 20 yrs and still trying to put that perfect team of dogs together.

Thanks, This is what I was originally looking for when I signed on to this site. I only post that I can afford the dogs to let sellers know Im not waisting anyones time. I have worked out with a couple guys on here to help me look at new potential dogs. Southtexas dogger has contacted me and is willing to help me get started without wanting any money. He told me upfront he did not need the money and I could not buy any of his dogs. He was recommended by the old man I started with. So I will go from here. Thanks for all the positive post here.

I did just register to this fourm. I just found out about it on Saturday when I was hunting with a guy that was going to school down here in Kingsville. If you read the original topic it states that I have been hunting with an old man now for a couple of months now and have been gathering as much info on this sport. I try not to be the dumbest dude around So I gather as much knowledge as I can at whatever I decide to do. I wanted to start Offshore fishing I went 3 times with a captain and ordered my new 38' Center Console Donzi I wanted to start Bowhunting I bought the best Eq available. When I wanted to start Bowfishing I went with a guy from Corpus Christi a few time in his fan boat,Soon after I ordered a new Diamondback airboat. And off I went. So this sport is no different I will dive in as I always do.
