Thank you for the response. However, I am aware of all the points that you have mentioned. My intentions were to get on the site to possibly find out if these dogs are still out there with similar genetics. If there are and someone had a litter I would be interested. Been out of the game for awhile and like everyone else just trying to get a good line going again. I really like the History of the dogs and like talking about them. It took me years and several dogs to get a good cross that I throughly enjoyed as well as my fellow ranchers and hunters. I believe in starting out with a good foundation and then building from there.

Thank you for the information. I will try to get a hold of them. Is there any other suggestions on really good bloodlines that someone knows or reccomends. I had a few dogs out of the Wright line and they were awesome. It has been awhile and trying to do some research.

Can anyone tell me if it is still possible to get a BMC with some old school breeding? I was looking at finding dogs with Wrights Yellow Jacket,Wrights Tia Sims,Wrights Bounty Trapper II, Duurrett's Rita. If so where and who? Also if y'all have some other suggestions on some similar breedings. Another question I have is John Wayne Ross still handling registering BMC dogs? Thanks

Just to follow up on the advice of several of the other Hog Hunters. I would try doing basic obedience with the dog and continue to get her around other sites people etc. Find a large field or pasture to run her in after you have gotten some obedience down. Introduce the dog to hogs, let her get around one when it is in the pen and she can bay at it from the outside. If she is not interested get another dog and let it bay and then let her bay with it. If this still does not work, then tie her up while another dog works the hog. This may get her excited to want to go to the hog. When you get some results, then get a small hog and turn her loose on it. If she shows no interest get another dog to bay it and then turn her loose. Always remember not to go to long, just a few minutes at a time. There is always another day. Go slow and easy and always reward her with praise. I hope this helps. Keep us posted on your dogs progress.

How old is the pup? How long have y'all had him? With all animals coming into a new place takes time for adjustment. Food is always a big motivator. I would suggest alot of hands on activity. Try to be around your pup as much as possible and make him feel that he is part of the family. In his old enivornment he may have felt more comfortable. This could have been because of his brothers and sisters and of course because of ma being around. Give him a good name and start using it. Try to get some sort of lead and start walking him around and get him around people and things. When y'all go to the store or somewhere take him with y'all. Being skidish has another name. I like to use sensitive. So he may be sensitive but smart. Feed twice a day in equal portions and try to get on a regular schedule. Give some type of treat every once in awhile. Be fun and positive and let the pup grow mentally as well as physically. I do like the idea that he is baying the cat. Try to get with a buddy that has some hogs penned and encourage him to bay at the hogs. Get him excited and then catch him and praise him for it. It only takes a minute or two. You want everything to be positive and fun. I hope that this helps. He is a nice looking pup. Remember be positive and gain from your experiance with this pup. Over the years you will be getting many different dogs with different personalities and hunting senses. Congats on the pup!
