IS this still a good company. Need to order a new system
Gulf Coast is still here - but in order to be authorized Garmin dealers, we must sell at their required pricing. it is the only way that warranties are in effect with the systems. Don't buy from discount sites, or you won't have a warranty at all. The garmin we have available is listed on the website.

If they are still $169, this is about the going rate everywhere. As far as the DC-40's being junk, well I have recently parted ways with all the 30's, and switched to 40's after some good ol' fashioned testing. I've been around the Garmin products for a very long time, and I would venture to say I know how to use them better than most. Funny thing about all this. I have never turned a dog loose without a name collar (all of which are day-glo), and I have yet to have one come off in the woods. That includes while those vicious hogs are attacking them while they are supposed to be finding armadillos. The major difference between the DC-30 and DC-40 is the ability to have 'collar lock' and to have a longer battery life by only transmitting every 2 minutes (hence increasing the battery life). I don't know many hunters who want to pay $60 more to change a setting to 2 minutes - do you really not want to know where your dog is for 2 minutes, if they are already far out - that could take them out of range. For the guys we deal with here, they tested them for us, and we shipped them ALL back. I believe if they remained the same price as the DC-30, it might be a different story but garmin wanted everyone to charge $250 for those collars. I see they are selling for less now, but the original price that came out made it almost impossible to sell for less than $220 with free shipping.

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Garmin discontinuing DC-30 and our reduced pricing on Garmin.

Hey guys, It's been awhile since we popped in to say HI, but wanted to let you all know I just found out Garmin is discontinuing the DC-30 collars and bundles. We currently have 3 bundles and 10 collars left and once they are gone - that's it!! Just wanted to give you guys a heads up..... Our magnetic mount antennas just went on clearance price (currently $34.95 shipped) - we have 10 of those left..... looks like we won't be carrying Garmin any longer since I don't believe the DC-40, and don't carry products I don't believe in. I've had guys who have had these collars ripped off by hogs and lost - for the price increase another collar option or stronger option should come wih it. The feedback I have is that it is not a very good product, and I am very disappointed to hear they are stopping production on the DC-30. We also only have 5 TOPO DVD and 3 TOPO SD-CARDS left which I have reduced the price on as well to move the rest of the product out.... here is my Garmin page: http://gulfcoastpetsupplies.com/searchquick-submit.sc?keywords=garminHave any questions, give us a call 941-921-7546. Happy Hunting!!! Tricia

This is also NOT going to be a replacement for the DC-30, it will just have some new features that the DC-30 does not have - such as Collar LOCK and still a 7 miles range depending on terrain and location. One of the best features is that it will have a receiver that connects to ANY 1" collar - so your dog will only need ONE collar, instead of potentially the two that many people have.

Garmin is coming out with the DC-40 at the 3rd quarter of this year. It is expected to have a feature called "COLLAR LOCK" which prevents other hunters from seeing your dog on there 220. The suggested retail will be around $250 per collar, which is around $50 higher per collar than the current DC-30.

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Tracking Systems

The Garmin system can lose "signal" if using a commercial radio with it, which is most of the problems guys encounter - I've heard several stories from many people who have inquired with me about the various tracking systems, most end up buying a garmin and like it. I always tell people no matter what you buy, go to squaretrade.com to get it insured, it is considered either "other" electronics, or "GPS" and you can get a 3 year warranty from them for pretty cheap - so if anything happens to it, you let squaretrade know and they reimburse you, it's a great warranty.

I just got an outdoor camera system off ebay - it included a DVR system, 8 cameras, wiring, etc - all outdoor cameras and was around $700, it works great and you can set it to only record at motion. If you don't need that many cameras, I'm sure a good outdoor 2 camera or 3 camera would only be a few hundred with DVR that records or for you to watch live.
If you go to ebay and type in security cameras, there is a 4 camera system for $299 - combine that with a $60 monitor from office depot and you've got a great color system that you can watch, records for you, and works great. That worked for us, and considering it was color it was even better. The guys ebay name was cctvdeals.
Hope this helps.

As of March 15th, Garmin has just raised pricing by 2.5% and discontinued the end of month rebates. We will honor all current pricing through April 1st, however, at that time we will have to revise our pricing accordingly since there is no further rebate from Garmin any longer based on sales, there is no incentive to push higher volume sales and re-order larger amounts of inventory.

I have had 4 people today process orders properly, and 2 people contact me after they entered information that it didn't work and that they wanted it adjusted. When you go to our checkout page, you enter your billing information on the 2nd page, on the 3rd page it asks for a coupon code, where you enter GCPS-3 it must be as shown, capital letters with a -3 after it. You then hit "APPLY" UNDER THE COUPON, which will apply the coupon and show you the revised price.
I don't mind phone calls with questions about Garmin, I don't mind helping customers with issues - but I have guys calling me about pricing, calling me after an order is placed - calling me about things that are already HERE. I put this all up here and spent the time making these codes and checking all online prices to help you guys ENSURE we have the best prices, and make it so you can SEE your price at checkout and know you are getting the best price.
If the coupon didn't work - DO NOT HIT PROCESS. I cannot manually change an order after you have authorized your credit card, and it costs FEES to refund, which defeats the purpose of offering a discount. I am already selling these at the lowest possible price - with hopes that at the end of the month - our volume gets us a discount from Garmin. Please don't call me AFTER you have already FINISHED PROCESSING an order and ask me to credit you - this is why the COUPON CODES are present. You must enter GCPS-3 at checkout, press APPLY - it will show you the price that will be charged, then you hit process. If you're looking for what those prices are, it is about 3% off - don't process FAKE ORDERS with FAKE NAMES to see a price - it's not necessary and costs us a lot of work.

You are suppose to trade it out or deal with any warranty issues with GARMIN direct. It's not the stores fault if Garmin sends a defective item - also Garmin SHOULD try to troubleshoot it with the customer first to determine if it's defective or customer error - which is more common than you think.
