Yea I will probably try him out this weekend and see what happens. Hopefully I can do a mock trail or two before then. I might be getting a blood hound in two weeks thats all ready started. That will probably be my best route to go.

I think Im going to start my cat on working a blood trail and yes their are a bunch of hogs in the area. I might be shooting myself in the foot with him. I have a 1/2 lab 1/2 mastiff puppy that Im thinking of trying to train for next year. I know Ive seen and heard that a lab is a good tracking dog. A biologist in a big hunting club by my house used a full blood lab to track all of their deer. I think this year will be an experimental year for me on  training and learning the deer tracking trade.

We finally got the ok in Trinity county to use dogs to blood trail wounded deer this year. That being said where can I find a good dog and or can I convert my hog dog into a blood trailing dog? I recently got out of hog hunting this last year and all he does is lay around now. Would love to get him into blood trailing. Any tips and advice would be greatly appreciated. Where could I possibly find deer dogs at that might be for sale? My buddy shot an 8 pt and a doe two days ago and we used his beagle puppy without any success. Im ready to get one thats all ready started or possibly give my old catahoula dog a crash course in blood trailing.

Got a nice big male dog. He is about 22 months old and weighs and estmated 80lbs. His momma had some aerdale and black mouth cur in her and the daddy was full plott. He has been on 1 hog out in the woods and that was his first time out.Stayed step for step with my good dogs.  Been out in the woods 3 times. He will bay in the pen as well.  He is learning fast.  The momma and daddy to this dog were very nice dogs. He just needs on some pigs. asking $50 for him.

Yes sir I was very proud of them. Hopefully they will catch many more like that for me. Im sure they will I just gotta get on some more with them. That was my big red dogs first time in the woods and he stayed step for step with my other 2 dogs and bayed his butt off. I was very pleased with him. Ready to tie up some more.

Oh yea I was excited for sure. I hunt quit often but I always have buddies to go with and this was the first time just me and my dogs got one. Its a very good feeling for sure.

Yea I think so as well. I just need to work with him. I think Im going to do a little bay pen work and try and work with him when baying in the woods. Hopefully he will come around.

Thanks for the advice. Ill sure try it. He has never been shocked off a hog. He has just got whooped off some armidillos and I think he thinks Im going to whoop him off the hogs as well which is clearly not what I would do but he thinks thats whats going to happen. I will just have to work with him and see if I can get him to stay and bay while Im there.
