HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / USA Visit 2016
|
on: January 23, 2016, 03:02:17 pm
|
I'm visiting the USA from Australia in May and will be travelling with a mate who's a bit of a cowboy and wants to visit Fort Worth, so me being mad on hogs I want to try and squeeze in a day or two hunting while I'm in the area. Any folks on this board within a couple hours of Fort Worth that we could roll with on a hunt?

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Mr. Orval Roberts passes on - a great man

I visited the USA last year. While at Uncle Earl's I was introduced to Mr. Orval as I love the American Cur Dog breeds and the Plott Hounds. Mr. Orval sat with myself and my friend for a couple of hours telling of his hounds and hunting hogs in general. I really appreciated such a respected man in the hog hunting world taking the time to talk with a couple of Australians.
RIP.

Those are some very healthy looking hogs. Do your pigs run a lot of do they seem to stand thier ground and bay/fight?
I speak a lot to American hunters, mostly from Al and Ms, and our pigs don't run anything like some of those big ol' hogs those guys get onto, but in some areas the pigs here are pretty slippery. Just depends on how much hunting pressure they are under, and also the numbers of wild dogs/dingos in the area. Generally, Aussie hunters don't catch and release so our pigs are not as dog/hunter savvy either. Cheers.

Nice photo spread. It'd be nice to visit Australia and bay some hogs.
I'd really like to get on one of them wooly mountain boars over there.
Thanks mate. I like to get into the mountain pigs, hard work but very rewarding.
