we entered and my dad warned us that some under the table stuff could happen. Guess someone should have told you that also. I beleive the winning heaviest three was 55?, which is more than straight up 550, you would have been second. We ended up with 187, 160, and 71, weighed in about 11:30 this morning. Not saying anyone cheated or didn't cheat, just understand anything can happen when someone puts something like that together. Without having someone nuetral riding with each team anything is possible, we could have trapped ours and turned each one out and had the dogs chew them a little and kill them then weigh them in. Just not sure bashing is the right thing, I've seen all kinds of sporting events that I thought were slanted one way or the other, take it and move on, if you don't like it don't enter again.

Like your bulldogs Crib, my dad use to raise them and catch with them, and he used Hines stuff. We would go to Mr. Hines when I was just a little boy and get dogs from him. He crossed them with a big mountain curr for some really ruff grain field dogs.

Check out the username, Wateverworks. That is my boys username and I find that I agree with him, different terrain, vegitation, temperatures, etc all should play a role in how you choose wateverworks for you. My son has grain fields available to hunt, need to find'em and shut'em down. I've seen all sorts of dogs used to get this type of hunting done. I like mountain curr x AB, cat x AB, probably because I've done it and it worked, these dogs could hunt and shut one down, we still carried an extra AB or two just for insurance. I have had YBMC that could hunt and would catch as soon as I told them to catch, might be just enough time to leg one, I've had hound x ybmc that would only stop a hog and then only bay, when you got there you better catch her or she was leaving town to go find another. The dogs my son has now they are'nt going anywhere, they will try to eat the dead hog as long as they can get to him. Good topic though, enjoy reading what others are doing.

Well, I am sure there will be a new post later, the boys got into the hogs this morning. They wanted to go last night and there just wasn't anything happening so after about 30 minutes they came home and left about 5 a.m. first field good sow. Lesson....while walking in on the dogs caught about 10 feet away was a boar lying down, I took time to show the boys why it was important to pay attention while moving in so no one gets hurt. We stood around and let the dogs work and watched the boar sneak out, I know one got away, but only at the expense of a good lesson. Loaded up and took off to another field at the end they got into a sow w/pigs and a boar. Caught the sow and tied her for training young dogs. I'm sure they will post photos on a new thread later, they are on there way to ice down the meat from the one and eat a potatoe, egg, bacon and cheese taco at the local taco shop. They could have caught another hog or two with one or two better dogs, if anyone knows where to find good short range dogs without problems let them know. The fields they hunt do not require jam up go yonder kindof dogs, but quality short range dogs, better if they are a little rough in these grain fields to shut them down quick. Thanks

Thanks for the comments guys, I'm posting on my sons userame because the turd used my email address for his account. Yes, it is a Crainer vest. I've not hunted in a while, my son is 16, just got his licsense and started hunting. Last Fri he caught his first hog and this one is his second, he has a plott x curr that is starting for him and a lacy help dog, the bulldog and the two red and white dogs are his friends dogs in the photo. His first on his own! If anyone has a good female that will hunt I think they need another good dog! They will be hard to deal with, I've told them to be careful buying dogs, easy to get screwed. Really proud of him.
