I've got some full brothers that are workin' like this and are about the same age. Got one that I got backed up and been workin' him with looser dogs hopin' he don't get too catchy and has been doing great since he was 9 months old. His brother on the other hand was either all about catching or didn't want to do anything at all. Got whooped off the ear by a 200 lber and I thought I ruined him. Had a shoat out and stuck it in his kennel with him. prolly 20 lb shoat. Bayed like there was no tomorrow. I've never seen this dog bark. He's prolly gonna turn back around on me and I might like him. lol They are 13 months old now and one has just been a lil slower then the other. Just happens. wish they were all like my 2 yr old and start when they are 7 months and finding their own at 12 months but those dogs are one in a million i've found out.
I'd keep working with her. heard of some people not starting dogs til they were 15 months or so. Ain't sure why but i'll give them to 15 months to show me something or they ain't going to be around nor on the dog trade lol

I was just wondering if you were so impressed with the rott and talked them up so much why you would change. Pits are like any other dog. They go thru their stages of life. You can't just get a pup and try to super charge them up to a grade a cd in just a few months with suppliments. Feed them quality dog food and adequet exercise. If the genes that they are bred with are there to be big bulky dogs that's what you will end up with in a couple years. Just like anything else it takes a lil time.

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Cut dog antibiotics

Ammoxicilian and if it's a bad infection Cipro does wonders. I use some "Pink stuff" get it from the vet and it lasts for ever it seems like. Poke holes are worst then a nice cut. They try to heal over quick so it's not aloud to drain. Skin cuts heal up good with a lil anti biotic and the pink stuff. still ain't sure what it is but works good.

another one I'd add is not to get excited about a dog or give it a cool name until they prove theirselves. Sam is becoming quite the dog while his brother Legend (which I used to be fond of thinking he'd be a legend when he finishes out) ain't quite got it figured out. Dixie and Banshee never turned out while chiquita is coming along great. Then Bob, and Mike, Ely and Max just some plain ordinary names are out there finding and catching a lot of pigs for me lol.
SO don't get over excited about a pup.

HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: hunting in the wind

Hey know a guy around here that will almost only hunt in the wind 20/30 mph. Says the hogs don't run as far and are easier to bay up because can't hear as well. He must use hounds. Waylon LOL that's funny right there. We hunted today. had a chance for hail, storms, and tornadoes but need to get the dogs on some pigs. I like to hear a good bay. Ended up catching 3 today. Seemed like right before they struck and started a bay the winde died down it was kinda crazy. Depends if your hunting high ground or creek and river bottoms also. Bottoms provide a lil wind block but it still don't make it easier. Using the gps tracker is handy also. You can kinda see what your dogs are doing and know wether or not to head to them or if they still runnin' out a trail.
