Ok last call.

These are not dogs that I would cull but I'm not going to be able to get back into hog hunting this year like I had hoped.  Someone come get em!

1. Ads on this board are strictly between buyer and seller, ETHD assumes no responsiblity.

2. You must include a valid e-mail and/or phone number in your ad, no replies can be made on this board. Negative comments and/or bashing the individual or the dog in other posts will not be tolerated and will result in being banned from this forum. Any disputes between buyer's and seller's will be held off the boards and in private.

3. BUYER BEWARE... research the seller as much as possible. If the majority of their posts are in The Dog Trade, that should tell you something.

4. Sound advise: If you are going to spend a bunch of money on a dog ... GO SEE THE DOG HUNT/CATCH BEFORE YOU BUY. Any respectable person selling a proven dog will not have a problem with this, if they do turn and run the other way. Also get a trial period on the dog, but remember this... it takes a lot of dogs time to get used to their new owner and new packs. A short trial period is not always sufficient.

5  THE CLASSIFIEDS / CLASSIFIED ADS / 1984 F250 Extended Cab on: February 13, 2011, 09:50:57 pm
Good farm truck.  Has a 351 Windsor engine with about 10,000 miles and a rebuilt transmission with about 13,000 miles.  Body is rough, no major dents but needs paint.  Engine needs minor work like new hoses and the speedometer fixed but nothing major that I can tell.  Good tires, regular ones on the front mud grips on the back.  Needs registering and inspection.  Has been used only on the farm for the last couple of years, only time it's been on the highway is when I drove it into Maydelle to put gas in it.  I drive it 2 or 3 days a week on the farm so it hasn't been just sitting.  Clear title.
$1800 will part trade, things I'm looking for are: A male pit pup out of catch dog stock, 2x6 framing lumber, 13" planer, 10" table saw, ( Craftsman or Delta on those) or someone with a portable bandsaw mill to mill lumber for me on my place.  Will also consider other trades like guns.
If interested pm me here with a phone number and I'll get back to you asap.

I have a 1/2 Cat 1/2 Pit Gyp that is about 15 months old, have never hunted her in the woods but she shows to be gritty on a penned hog.  She had a litter of pups out of a 3/4 Cat and 1/4 pit male and I have decided to keep 3 of the male pups so I don't need her.  The pups are weaned and there are 2 males and 2 females left in the litter left that need new homes.
Give me a call at 903-795-3944, I'll get back to you.  You can PM me here but I'll be away from my computer all day.

Thanks
Shelia

I used to make my cut vest out of fire hose and cordura, they worked great!  I made my own cut collars like that to.

I was raised old school where your mate was supposed to be an asset not a liability, a helpmate and not a hindrance.  Come to think of it I am old.  I was raised up in a house where whatever Dad wanted to do was fine with Mama and she was off in the big middle of whatever he was doing.  So I guess you could say I was raised not knowing any better.

12  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / I sent this email to Rep Chuck Hopson today... on: January 14, 2011, 06:36:19 pm
Chuck,
I have supported you during your tenure in office and have voted for you each time you ran for election.  I cannot continue to support you, nor will I, if you sponsor or support a bill asking for the ban of the Pit Bull breed or their mixes.
Chuck, I am a hog hunter.  As you know feral hogs cause millions of dollars worth of damage every year, the most effective way to control the number of feral hogs is with the use of dogs.  A great number of those dogs are pit bulls or their mixes.  Chuck, I have never met a mean pitt bull and I meet alot of them every year hunting with different people.
I have owned pit bulls in the past and own pit mixes now.  I have had them as pets and used them for hunting.  I have always found the breed to be loyal, courageous, intelligent and gentle.  I believe this bill is a knee jerk reaction to an unfortunate situation.  Pit bulls are not a naturally mean breed.  There are other breeds that are far more aggressive.
Chuck, the breed itself is not to blame.  Before you decide to sponsor this bill I ask that you go out and meet a few pit bulls and get a feel for their temperament. I ask that you be fair to this loyal gentle breed and their owners.
Sincerely,
Shelia Teer

Yea I know the Newmans, Went to school with Diane, same grade.  Rodney is about 4 years older I think.  I know the youngest girl also but I have CRS this afternoon or not enough coffee yet and can't remember her name.  I'm thinking it's Stacy but not positive right this minute.  Rodney used to cut and bale hay on our place.

15  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: horse feeding ?? on: January 03, 2011, 10:56:19 pm
Horses can eat oats, rye and winter wheat without a problem, the problems comes in if you allow it to go to seed and they eat the green seed heads.  I've grazed mine on all of the above without a problem.

OK deer season is officially over now it's time for fun, LOL.  I have 141 acres in Cherokee County, Tx and have state forest on 2 sides of me.  Looking for someone who would be willing to let me go hunting with them on my place.  I have hogs on my place most of the time.  I have one dog old enough to hunt but she's nursing a litter of pups, so it would be your dogs, gear etc., my place.  All I ask is that you respect the land and you can keep what you catch or we can split the meat or whatever but I need about a 20- 40 pounder to start my pit pup with if we catch one.
Anyone interested in letting an old woman tag along?

18  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Anyone hunt Plotts or hounds in East Texas and have a lot of success? on: January 02, 2011, 07:21:21 pm
Back when I hog hunted with dogs before I had a redbone coonhound that was my strike dog and she'd bay a hog with the best of 'em, and she was known to kill little pigs up to about 30 pounds.  Now most hounds are open on track so since I got her as a pup and trained her I used a bark collar to teach her to be silent on track, I worked her on a long line for about 2 months until she was totally silent on track , my older bay dogs taught her it was ok to open up and bay a hog. Dang I miss her!  A friend of mine had a half plott half black and tan coonhound that was a helluva strike dog but he was a bit too cold nosed for my liking, I swear that dog could strike a trail that was 3 days old.  When looking at breeds of hounds keep in mind some breeds are hot nosed, some medium and some cold nosed.  I never liked a cold nosed hound even when I coon hunted and on a hog hunt a cold nosed hound may lead you a merry chase for 20 miles LOL.
