No idea what line my plotts are from just back yard breeding but they are some real gritty things some are suicidal on hogs an real gritty on bear which it takes a gritty dog some times to put a big bear up the tree here on the coast of north carolina

I run treeing walkers an plott hounds we always go the night before the hunt which is mostly weekends an cover up sign an tracks an go back the next day if theres a track made that night can put the hounds on it an will find that hog no matter how far it traveled that night they will stick until the end...we hunt bear the same way find tracks an put a strike dog out most of the time the tracks could be 12 or more hours old put a cold nose dog on that track an let him warm it up then start packing in the others

I have a big male treeing walker that's real cold nosed an not gritty at all will stand bay which is good cause hes used to trail bear to... will pick up on tracks that's 12+ hours old that the other dogs cant smell but over the years some of the other dogs have learned to stick with him until the track is warmed up...when the dogs get use to the bluetick puting hogs at the end of all that barking they will learn to honor him as far as makeing him gritty more then likey if its not gritty by now its not going to be
