2  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / New Pup from Peachcreek on: January 13, 2011, 11:13:18 pm
We'll I've mostly hog hunted in my spare time after deer season. I've decided to get more into it. I got my second dog this week from Peachcreek catahoulas. She's young but showing potential. She's only 8 weeks but pretty good at baying my 3yr old son.  Grin Shes a cool color to, kinda a gun medal grey. She seems like a natural, strong, solid, and confident. He's got more pups if your looking. I'll let y'all know how she turns out in a few months when she's on a hog. The other dog is my male catahoula he's 3.

how did your dogs do in that weather. My catahoula just shakes constantly when its under 40.

Hey are there any open places to hunt up there in the Caddo-LBJ Grasslands?

Sounds like your lucky a dog didn't get shot. I'd say no gun if there is a next time.

6  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Suggestion for this Forum (East Texas Hog Doggers) on: January 07, 2011, 05:05:45 pm
I'm not talking about an address and dna sample. Just the city. Don't think anybody would find your door in Houston or Manvel just by a search function on this sight. It would just be cool to find hunters within 50 miles of you. Gives more possiblity of training dogs and hunting opportunities.

I don't know where to give comments to the site manager so maybe they will get this. One thing that would be great is if we could search for members by "Location" that way maybe we could connect with hunters close to us. I couldn't find any way to do that. Thanks in advance.

I'v hunted north texas close to OK for years now. I've noticed we have hogs move through real thick for two years then their gone for about a year and then back for two years. Don't know why and I'm sure its not the same hogs. I just think think they are a roaming breed. Hunting pressure will make them move as well.

yea getting new pup next week. I have a 2 year hold cat that wasnt ever trained with a pig, but still does pretty good. I want to train this new pup better and see if I can tighten up my other dogs skills.

Right north of Fort Worth. About 25-35 lbs. Let me know where you are for future reference, but I think I found some.

14  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / How do you find Hog Huntin Land? on: January 01, 2011, 10:44:29 pm
I've always been a big deer hunter, so I've always had a lease that I hog hunt to. But its 2hrs away. From reading post it seems like many of you have land access in multiple areas. Are there different ways to get on land to hunt hogs besides leasing a traditional hunting lease.

Thanks

Brian
