4  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: HEREDITARY MANGE any info would be helpful on: March 11, 2015, 09:31:39 am
From personal experience I can say that it is one of the most time consuming treatments. Demodectic mange or red mange is a pain in the a$$ to get rid of. Once you have treated it , it is suppose to stay gone and not come back. It can be localized , generalized and in the paws of the dog. The good thing is its treatable and doesn't spread to other dogs. In younger dogs it means that they inherently have a immature immune system. In older dogs it could be a result to liver failure or cancer. Never had to deal with it in older dogs. Having a litter that is tightly bred can result in the immature immune systems - this is what I had to deal with. The treatment can be costly because you are using Ivomect daily. Depending on the weight is of course how much you administer. I was using 1CC daily for right about a month, maby a little longer. Also I am by no means a DVM so with that being said i'm not telling you what to do or what to use. Just the treatment I went by and used. Just make sure you follow thru with it and don't skip a day. Good luck - J.D. King

Roger that. Thanks for the replies. As of now I will pass on the Lacey idea.  Thanks again
6  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Blue Lacey ???? on: February 23, 2015, 10:23:29 am
So had a few questions. How do they hunt compared to a rough catchy cur. I usually run 2 curs at a time and if they cant hang it well then i make a phone call lol. Question is are they as rough? Are there straight catch Lacys? I prefer a fat jug headed cur with bite, are their bloodlines of these dogs that feature this? Depending on which ranch I hunt, I hunt most of my dogs rigged on the flatbed or in front of the truck. The other ranch I have 2 dogs that I just cast from the bed. They have great noses and hunt good its just that if the hogs makes it to the woodline or canal I call emm off they just load back up and on to the next.  Thanks in Advance  J.D. King
7  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: New kennel floor question on: January 21, 2015, 08:32:19 am
Thanks for all the responses. I think if all goes well I will be able to get my hands on enough damaged city park picnic table with the rubber coated mesh and be able to make an 8x16 deck. Making 3 bays that are 5x8 with a jump box that is 2x5 on the exterior of the pens. That 40sf of run and 10 sf of jump box. 50 sf is plenty for them anyways being let out twice a day and hunting 2-3/week. Again thanks
8  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: New kennel floor question on: January 19, 2015, 09:08:26 am
Roger that and thanks for the input. I have enough rough cut lumber to make the frame n such. Just looking for ideas for the decking. I'd love to find the material used for picnic tables (rubber coated mesh steel) but thats hard to find laying around. 5/4 decking was what i was steering towards and doing 24" centers for the runners. Thanks again and anymore input is gladly appreciated.
9  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / New kennel floor question on: January 18, 2015, 05:54:33 pm
I'm in a situation where I have to move my pens. They are on a concrete pad now and I honestly don't care for concrete. My pens are not attached to the floor and I'm able to move them to wherever. Wondering what would be and alternative floor. 1x6,2x6, treated, untreated. Input please and reasoning.

I know I've used this picture a couple times and I'll get around to a new one tomorrow. But this is my Beauford dog. Last litter off of Scout. He is straight catch. All I have now is Mears dogs and all of them are catchy or straight catch. What do yah think Florida Curdog, looks just like Scout? I'll try and get some photos in the next day or two.

That's a good one getting to hand select them. I for sure have a couple high headed sob that would be perfect. Little brammer in them does the trick.

Whether its cattle or hogs, when it comes natural like, that is when you know your breeding/bloodlines are a for sure. Having that natural prey drive and instinct is awesome. The best thing about this video is that its proof that there is no "FORCING THEM" as the bleeding hearts would say to do this. Also your whip was getting some sure enough eyes at the rodeo/festival this weekend. Had some sure enough teams there this year. Brandon Barthel got first and Mr Carl Blount got 2nd in the Dog Trials.

16  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: The Plott Thickens. on: June 29, 2014, 11:28:57 am
Hey Pwilson_10 have you or any buddy on this post had an all out gritty as they come silent plott?!? Just wondering. A buddy of mine had a plott cur cross and man I enjoyed hunting with him because he was silent unless he was looking at him and if it broke he'd shut it down ASAP and went to bawlin. That joker was a good long range dog. Maybe something to look for in the future.
17  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Magnum x-treme 24/20 on: June 17, 2014, 09:41:21 pm
Yah it's weird that they do not have any info. I'm looking further into it. My buddy with the deer dogs says he loves it. His dogs have some meat on emm for sure.
18  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Magnum x-treme 24/20 on: June 16, 2014, 08:58:10 pm
Does anybody use or know of this dog food?!?  A buddy feeds his deer hounds and they look darn good. Tried the google route and couldn't find anything. Just wondering. Thanks JD
19  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Gyps back legs are cramping/shaky/stoved up?!? on: June 13, 2014, 08:47:23 am
Just yesterday I noticed when pulling up to my pens that my gyp was walking around stretching her back legs out. I opened the door to let her run thinking her legs maybe fell asleep and all she did was walk out. This gyp is 100 mph all day! She went and ate some grass for a few and I called her up and she seemed to walk fine. Again she's not running around at this point. I searched over her pads for anything. Pads were in good cond. rubbed her down stretching her legs and all. I pulled a tick off her chest no biggie. Thinking hey maybe that joker bit into a nerve. Again she acts like her legs are cramping and maybe her rear end is shaky. She a has a pump handle tail that goes 100 mph as well but it seem more shaky than normal. Also I had to buy an emergency bag of pedigree from Walmart this past Sunday. All it did was make all their number 2 run. Maybe it threw her system off. She just healed up from a decent from shoulder cut but she was on keflex and a topical ointment from the first night. I doubt there is any internal infection. The shoulder is a slight swollen but she did get rocked hard that night. Throwing this out there if anyone has had this problem or situation. Thanks JD
