1  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: varmit/game gun on: January 17, 2012, 11:05:15 pm
I have a 22-250 and a 243 and the 243 is so much more versital you can shoot varmints with a 55gr bullet and deer with a 100gr. A 243 with a 55gr bullet has pretty much the same ballistics as the 250.

5  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / West Texas Boar on: September 10, 2011, 10:14:28 pm
Chad and I met up out in the the dunes last week for a quick hunt. So we put chigger and playboy up on the rig and started hitting the water holes, we checked 10 waters but there was no sign any where finding these hogs on 80000 acres is a pain sometimes. I decided to hit one more water on the way out. Chigger bailed off and was getting gone when his garmin died I thought $$$$ and was hoping I could hear him when he bayed. I sat there for about 5 mins and heard him start baying so I waited tell playboy got there and he  showed treed at .7. We drove around within a couple hundred yards and walked Bo in to seal the deal. Nice boar around 200.

Thanks guys Cutter is a full blood rbmc and chigger is a leopard cur. The dog with Chad in the top pic on left is a mountain cur. The dogs on the right are pups and they are 1/2 cat 1/4 leopard cur 1/4 Kemmer cur. I don't know how far he winded them but these hogs are some running sob's cutter had chewed her entire ass out and she finally stopped 1.6 later. If you have trouble loseing your dogs I bought that long range intenna and it works pretty good it folds down the side of your garmin.

Chad and I met up for a evening hunt in the dunes. We Put chigger and playboy up on the rig and started hitting water holes, at the second water chigger bailed off and was getting gone at 850yds he started circling and finally bayed playboy and our 5 month old pups where going to him. I drove around and got about 200 yds and cut the bulldog right when he got there the hog broke they ended stopping him about 100yds right in the middle of a pond fun times. Chad went in and drug him out he was a 175 lbs boar. We loaded dogs and crossed the hwy and I threw cutter up on the rig and started hitting the water, it was getting late so we decided to try one more spot when cutter bailed off and started working a track he kept zig zagging back and forth for about 25 min when he finally lined her out he showed treed at 1.6 miles next to a road so we drove around and cut Bo chads bulldog to sill the deal. She weighed about 160.

175lb Boar about 2 in teeth

12  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / 2 good west Texas boars on: August 03, 2011, 10:08:09 pm
One of my ranchers called and ask if I would take his son out and stab a hog so I loaded dogs up and headed that way. I put the dogs up on rig and started hitting the water holes. The third water we hit cutter bailed off and headed north he made a big circle and finally lined it out he started baying at 250yds back to the south. I grab hulk and head that way i get about 20 yards i see it's a good boar an cut hulk and he ran in and missed boar broke but ol chigger was hanging off his nuts skiing across the sand hulk caught back up and sealed the deal. We loaded the dogs up and headed to the highway to pick up a buddy of mine who has been wanting to stab a hog. I drove about 2 miles when cutter bailed off and was headed straight for a windmill about 5 mins later cutter was treed at 950yds and chigger was going to him I drove around to them and they had a 50 lb shoat caught kalab stuck the hog and I tried to get the dogs back on the rest of the hogs but dogs were already to hot. We took about a thirty min break and started rolling again we drove around for about an hour and was about ready to call it quits when kalab said go over here to this water hole I saw some hogs there the other day and sure enough we got about 200yds from the water and cutter and chigger bail and are leaving out fast at 400 hundred yds they split chigger went left and cutter went right  cutter made a big circle and came back to the truck chigger keep going hard and I heard him start baying at 800 strAight behind us right off the road I back up to him and cut hulk I hear hulk hit and silence I run up and they had a 150 lb boar caught with some good cutters. I had a blast getting to watch to newbies stab there first hogs and made the rancher happy.

First boar about 175lbs (ranchers son)

Second boar about 150lbs and some decent teeth gonzos first hog with dogs

Me with second boar

16  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: drought? on: July 12, 2011, 04:28:40 pm
I planted a food plot on sept 24 2010 and that wAs the last day it has rained here. Midland is on water restriction right now if they catch you breaking it they are handing out 500 dollar tickets. I'm glad I don't have city water now.
17  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Bad boar in the pond on: July 11, 2011, 07:38:50 pm
It's not like we were around the corner from the airport we were about 85 miles and Jake had to catch an international flight by 430. We drove 115 mph and made it in about 40 min jake looked like one of those guys on swamp people covered from head to toe in mud and boarded a flight to the virgin islands. I haven't talked to him but I bet there was some interesting conversations on that plane. Talk about a train wreck lmao. Fun hunt
18  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Javalina on: July 09, 2011, 11:48:18 pm
Ya last night we caught ten hogs and not a dog one cut we caught 1 javalina and had 3 dogs on the ground two baydogs and the bulldog got wrecked.
19  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Javalina on: July 09, 2011, 08:33:12 pm
Has anybody ever tried to break there dogs off javalina we have been debating doing it. We have alot of country with hogs that we don't hunt because of them. A javalina is in the k-9 family and smell totally different to me when you walk up on them so you would think you could break them. Them sob will wreck a pack of dogs. I was just wanting yalls thoughts.
20  THE CLASSIFIEDS / THE DOG TRADE / 6 year old bmc strike dog on: July 09, 2011, 01:50:52 pm
6 year old male BMC he is medium range he is gritty on the ass end and will chew the nuts out of a hog. Trash broke completely silent will not make a peep until he is bayed. He will hunt on the ground or off the rig. My buddy bought this dog a little over a year ago because his best dog was banged up. We just had a litter of pups and they are ready to start that's why he is selling him. We have put him on probably 80-100 hogs in the past year he is in shape and ready to hunt right now. $1000 432-269-2637 Nathan call anytime serious inquiry's only nathan.spencer24@yahoo.com
