2  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Rip Sadie, have some ?'s on: August 01, 2014, 11:40:57 pm
Just to clarify, the dog didn't get caught on the kennels, I have the doc bob kennels with the roof so that isn't an issue.  It looks like she went to attack the young dog (shes got some minor cuts on her face) and the young dog got a hold of her collar on the back of her neck.  I don't know if she may of twisted while the cur had a hold and it choked her or what?  Found out through my wife that the young dog is in heat.  She shouldn't of been let out with the other ones if that was the case, but she didn't know.  I've never had them fight serious outside the kennels, little bit through the kennel fencing but nothing major.  Just doesn't really seem that easy for the young dog to do and doesn't add up to me, im stumped?
3  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Rip Sadie, have some ?'s on: July 29, 2014, 10:49:13 pm
Well had a dog pass tonight.  Currently in Korea gettin a rig ready on my rotation and get a bunch of missed text from my wife.  She let the dogs out of there kennels in a fenced off yard for them like always.  The cat that passed and a young cur (1yr) have been battling on and off for dominance.  So my wife switched there kennels so they were away from each other yesterday.  Appears the cat may of been choked by her nylon collar from the pics of how she found her.  Has anyone had any experiences of this?  Now I need to figure out the plan for this young dog.  She usually was not the one to initially start the fights, for all I know it could of been horseplay gone too far?  Do you all leave your dogs collars on, I always have just incase they were to get off the property somehow?  Thoughts on what u would do?
4  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Doc bob owners? on: May 25, 2014, 11:51:48 pm
I am movin when I get back from offshore in a week and had a question y'all may be able to help me with.  I'm pouring a slab at my new place and plan on having 6 doc bob kennels.  I know they sell the extra gate an back panel. Do they sell connectors so u can put the extra panels between two setups to make three?  Also was wondering on the width?  I know it says five foot wide, but is that the true dimension.  I don't want the pad more then 6 inches on each side of the kennels because I'll be fencing in a connected area for the dog yard.  Thanks
5  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Automatic feeders?? on: March 25, 2014, 05:47:18 am
I've been working on a true auto feeder with timer. I'm just about finished wth my proto.
I want to know if anyone's interested in them though.

Care to go in a little more detail?  I might possibly be interested.  I was considering modifying deer feeders with pvc attached down side of the kennel into a mounted pan.  Would rather have something a little more practical though.  Haven't found much available retail wise (with adjustable feed amount and time)

You happen to know the make or model of your filter setup junior?
7  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: freeze brand??? on: February 12, 2014, 10:48:52 pm
I'm just wondering when the hair grows back if the 2-3" hair will be legible or not?  All the photos of I seen on here and google, all seem to be short haired dogs.
8  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / freeze brand??? on: February 12, 2014, 10:05:49 pm
Thinking about marking all my dogs.  Wondering if any of y'all had freeze branded any dogs with longer hair.  I have a cat with medium length hair and was wondering how it would turn out?  Not sure if I should order a smaller brand and just do the inside of her ear?  My cur dogs dog have slick coats but are still relatively short.  Thanks.

I have a cull dog from junior.  No regrets on buying her.  She is a cull for the dogs I run and is a risk out of buying any pup from ANY litter.  That being said, she is a great puppy trainer and an all around great dog.  Heck, she may be a jam up lead dog for someone, just doesn't fit with my pack.  No regrets on getting her. I didn't pay an outrageous amount but she wasn't a free dog.  She works for me on teaching pups the early steps in the woods which saves me a lot of headaches.

Thanks guys.

Toyotatodd they are west central florida woods!

For some reason I thought you were closer to the jax area. Your marsh areas look a lot more open then over here on the east central area!  Everywhere is overgrown with pepper trees.  You north or south of Tampa?

She is out of a local bloodline here from Florida.  Pretty tight bred, gentleman I bought her from few years ago hunts all his cats close to med range on the river here.  She ranges out 2-3 miles on average if there is no sign closer.  I haven't been running her much lately because a lot of my areas are too small and have major roads within a mile or two.  My fl curs suit my style of hunting a lot better, even though they will run a hog that far, they typically only range a mile if nothing is around.  She is perfect for some of the larger areas I run maybe 10 times out of the year.

Straight catch, kind of a bad combination with her long range!
18  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: TX gun laws on: April 16, 2013, 03:33:52 pm
Just wanted to check myself on the Tyler State Park deal.

Not sure on all state parks...but at least at Tyler.... You cannot DISPLAY or discharge any firearm. Doesn't say you can't carry one or have one in the camp site.

Is it a state park or national park?
19  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / TX gun laws on: April 16, 2013, 12:44:11 pm
Read a recent story on Army Master Sgt. C.J. Grisham being arrested while openly carrying a firearm while hiking with his son.  Not completely familiar with TX's stance on this.  Anybody have any input?
