1  THE CLASSIFIEDS / THE DOG TRADE / Young catahoula strike dog, And blue pit catch dog on: June 27, 2017, 10:43:42 am
I have a big leggy almost 2 yr old cat male that just does not work for me. I've had him for probably 9 months and I got him from a friend. He is rough if another dog is getting rough. I usually hunt him by himself so he will stand back and bay. He just does not fit my program and I don't have the kennel space. I usually cast hunt my dogs and when I try to cast him with another dog he might go out 100-200 yards with another dog then he comes back and hangs out. When I road him or walk or hunt horseback he will hunt but not real deep. He has found lots of hogs. But I have young dogs that are coming along very well and he just sits on a chain at my house. I only take him when I go horseback on small places by myself. He does not hunt extremely hard, but when he takes a track he will be bayed somewhere.
$500 for him. That's just what I have in him not including dog food.

Also have a blue pit male. Will be caught on jaw or ear. If he can hear the bay he will go. 2 1/2 yrs old,  well mannered, about 55 pounds. I have 2 catch dogs that will walk beside my horse to the bay without a leash on a shock collar so I am selling this one because I have to keep him on a leash.
$250 for the bulldog.

I live in CANYON, TX. 15 miles south of Amarillo. You come pick them up.

Thanks guys. Shady grove that third hog was a handful he took my bulldog out of the game for about a month. Thankfully we were 4 yards away when I cut him loose so it was all over fairly quick

8  HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Re: Introduce pups to pigs. Take them to woods on: January 17, 2016, 07:36:50 pm
I wait til they're 10-12 months show them a hog tied to a tree in the woods with a dog that'll bay a hog then once they start baying pull them off and take them to the woods
9  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: Story time on: December 26, 2015, 09:32:34 pm
Had something similar happen to me once. A buddy and myself turned out two dogs at a deer feeder and they roll out .60 away and bay and he never broke one time. I could see the hog he was dang sure a good one. Turned the bulldog loose and the hog saw that bulldog coming and met him halfway. Well after the short fight the bulldog is hanging off the hogs ear and he looks up and sees my buddy and charged him and chased him around for a couple seconds then sees me trying to sneak up behind him so he runs me up a tree. All this time the bulldog is hanging off his ear. Bulldog wasn't small really he prolly weighed 55 pounds and had some leg under him. After he runs me up a tree my buddy had got him by a back leg and we caught him. I have a picture of him but tapatalk is screwing up on my phone and won't let me post anything for some reason

I'd still hav cow dogs and prolly try to start running cats as well. I love hog hunting but mainly just like watching a good dog work.

I'd start her on some cattle that are already really dog broke if you have the opportunity. Makes life easier for a confidence builder as far as young dogs. It's way more controlled

20  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Memphis TX baron sow on: August 31, 2015, 07:04:24 am
Went down the road about an hour to Memphis tx to make a hunt on the red river. Turned two cur dogs out and in about 3 minutes they burned out and struck about a mile away in a thicket covered in tumbleweeds. Had this nice sow caught but when we got there I snapped a few pics because it looked like the situation was under control lol but she brushed off my bulldogs and ran about .6 miles and they caught her. We were on hogs the rest of the day but never did get one caught besides her. Those tumbleweeds are something new to me and let me tell you they suck worse than any grain field, or briar thicket I've ever seen.
