Yessir we are still here. I look around on here every once in a while. We had our son on October 15th. So that has been keeping us very busy. We still hunt about 3/4 days a week, but big brother does not allow us to put pictures or videos on the Internet anymore. How have you been sir???

congrats on your son...glad to hear you all are doing alright...

Thank you SO much!! Smiley hope all has been well your way also!

I may be able to continue selling tractors for the company I'm working at now. We have 20 over there now and potential for more. Regardless I will find something just gotta have faith.

Sorry to hear bout lil man having a hard time. I have never been in ur shoes and can't imagine how u felt. Glad y'all got it straight. Children's hospital has to be the best place on earth. I know the one here does excellent work. God does his part on guiding them hands that's for sure.

As far as pigs go. Oh yeah way more pigs in that area than where I am now. Wife is gonna be the county extension agent for U of A in that county. That should help access property and gain contacts.

Back to the important stuff. I will keep y'all and lil Cash in my prayers. Praying he gets better with no long term effects. Keep him close and let him keep ol wine straight. Wink

All that sounds awesome!! Best wishes to you and yours! Keep us posted!  Wink

Thank you SO much for your thoughts and prayers. They absolutely mean more to me and my family than you could ever know. Smiley

Not much running since deer season came in. I had recalled y'all had the lil one due. Just a lil over a month means someone is in constant demand. Lol congrats to y'all. Future dog man in training. Just hadn't seen anything in a while wanted to see how y'all was. Me and mine are good. We are moving over toward Texarkana so that has life in a mess at the moment but it's for the better. Focusing on family and life at home is something I would bet lots of us could use. Just glad to hear y'all doing well. Take care keep in touch.

Man you ain't lyin about the constant demand part! I tell you what though. Every second. Every poopie diaper, every midnight feeding is worth it. Cash actually had pyloric stenosis. Long story short, it was missed initially so we were treating him for different things, in and out of the doc trying to figure out what was wrong. We finally had our fill and took him to Texas Childrens ER. He was close to kidney failure, heart rate was too low and had to have an emergency surgery. By far the hardest thing I have ever been through and makes ditching all the Facebook and Instagram BS that much easier. But our munchkin is okay!! So blessed that he is okay. It was such a heart wrenching experience. Hands down hardest thing I have ever been through or faced. but I can't begin to imagine what the parents of those children are going through with illnesses that can't be fixed. Needless to say those folks are in my prayers every night now.

Did you find work over that direction?? Hope you'll still be able to hunt some wigglies in a new place.

7  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: 44 mag ammo that will not exit through a hog? on: February 19, 2014, 07:15:00 pm
This is my gun of choice when I bay and shoot. I just the lead nose regular bullets you buy at walmart. I shoot em in the shoulder. Haven't had one run and the bullet stays in em for the most part.

is this what you use?

Yessir that's it. Its like a hollow point filled with soft lead best I can gather. Works good

The gazelle was BACK this time!! Sticks and vines fear me!! Hahaha! Managed not to trip! Lol, but I lost my lucky pink jacket that everyone at work thought was splattered w red paint.  Grin Wink hee hee! Hope I can find it eventually though.

But this was a great hunt; we had several less experienced dogs finding their own hogs left and right. Glad to see their confidence on the up and up!!

13  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Barking on track on: January 22, 2014, 05:27:29 pm
Just like some people assume a long-range hunting dog is one who flies out the box and never stops running until he hits a mile, folks assume an open track dog is a slow, methodical dog that will trail a hog from here to the east coast but will always be a mile behind.

If a dog can flat smoke a track, it really makes no difference...more just personal preference.  I'd bet 95% of the people who will come on here and tell you an open dog will clear the country are just repeating what they heard somewhere along the way.

I will throw out there that an open tracking dog probably won't get you many invites to go hunting with your buddies though...haha

I agree Mr. Bryant, alot of common misconceptions out there involving dogs. I prefer silent dogs simply because I don't care much to listen to a dog opening much on track but it doesn't have anything to do with that dog pushing the hog. In my honest opinion a good open dog is as good as a good silent dog.  I just personally prefer silent dogs myself. Now if we are talkin about chasing corn bandits around the tree tops i'll listen to an ol bawl mouth hound all night long and love every minute of it!

I'm with ya on the hounds bawlin there Justin!! Music for sure!!

And yes, this hear topic has been beat to heck on many a thread... But to answer your question, we've got curs that are open on track.  I hunted horseback this last weekend, and we were hunting a field with broom weed, so I had a clear vision of what all was going on on top of my horse, which was really neat.  We've got a gyp, Roxy, that I talk about alot who is open on track.  She yips on track and barks once the hog stops.  Now obviously, it helps me know what's going on (I usually don't have the garmin to look at).  She's works a trail fast and yips while she's going.  This weekend the hog ran RIGHT in front of us, and Roxy relies solidly on her nose. She won't look up and chase the hog and she never has.  (as you can imagine, I'm on my horse, yelling at Roxy and pointing at the hog like she knows what the heck I'm talking about, lol, but I couldn't help it!) Instead, she's nose to the ground, weaving in and out, working that trail... and I'm watching that hog boot scoot.  Once she hits open grass, she figures out it's a straight shot, and she goes to yippin again and boot scootin too, and draws the other dogs to her. She's our top dog, so in my eyes, they are learning from her.

So to get to the straight 'n' narrow, (sorry, I like to talk alot, lol):
I love open dogs.  Pros and cons?
Pros: -Draws our other dogs to her while she's working a trail, teaching them what we're out there for
        -We know what's going on
-To be honest, I just like it

Cons: I couldn't tell you of any, because this is what works for us, and our style.

It's funny the way it works sometimes. Look all over for a pig then the next thing ya know bayed up under ur feet. I really like that first pic. That's a very good shot. My wife likes taking pics as well. She says u compose the best u can then start snapping. She may have 20 shots of one thing in a second or 2 and 1 may be what she likes.

Lol! So true Arkansas!!! Couldn't believe how close we were to this second hog. Hahaha! I'm sure she was hunkered down like  Shocked while we were just sitting there talkin away!! Purty funny!!

And your exactly right! I have a lot more pics also that I'm not so sure I like! Lol!
18  HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / Re: 3 hogs in 45 minutes!!! on: January 19, 2014, 07:40:09 pm
Thanks ya'll!!! Lol, He does do most of the work!! He likes calmed, relaxed hunts and I've got a dog that I care too much about that catches anything- that's why I kinda boot-scoot on him sometimes.  I know what will probably wind up happening, but it damn sure isn't going to happen because I didn't get there fast enough- kind of the way I look at it.  Guess it makes it better in my head...  Lol, but long story short, I try to keep it just that... Hunting "Partners." He doesn't "take me" hunting- we go hunting.  We've got each other figured out pretty well- know what the others current thought is and what the other's next thought will be.  Works good as we can compensate for the other!!! Good Hunting partners are hard to come by!! Lucky for me, I'm married to mine!!!!  Smiley Wink

Terry- I think we could get you signed up for some glamour shots.  Just remember your git up.  I know of a swampy place I recently killed a hog at.  You might... just maybe give Duck Dynasty a run for their money!!!!!! You could bring both beards along so's we could take pics and pick the most flattering.  Grin Grin Grin Grin
