I bought a gyp from that man also the first 30 days she wouldn't do anything, same thing called and text said he would meet me then back out, well now she has started to hunt a little, in the last 6 hunts she's struck 4 hogs, but if he would have been a man of his word she wouldn't have made it 2 weeks.

well got to hunt my Cat for the first time today and the boat quit 500 yrds up river from the ramp so we didn't get to do much hunting. There was no sign and no pigs caught but she did range out in 4-500 yard circles for awhile then came back and stayed within 100. My buddies dog that we have been having lots of luck with did the same. Gonna try her again maybe Sunday.

HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Ladner Cur
|
on: December 14, 2011, 08:41:29 pm

I have a chance of getting a 2 year old Ladner Cur that has been started on squirels, do any of y'all have one that will squirrell hunt and hog hunt? How would you let the dog know what its supposed to be hunting? Would it be better just to let it squirrell hunt only than try to cross train it to do both? How hard would it be to break one off squirells if its already started?
I would love to be able to train it for both but wouldn't want it treeing squirrels when i'm hog hunting, wouldn't mind it finding a hog when i was squirell hunt though.

How many hunt alone? Do you let the fact that no one will go slow you down? What about at night? I'm new to hog hunting and will be working nights starting Monday so it may be hard to get anyone to go on my days off
