HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: jaguars(9 species) - east texas black panther

I live in southeastern Oklahoma (Broken Bow). One day I was eating lunch with a couple of our local game wardens and 2 federal wildlife guys. We were discussing mnt lions in our area of the state and one of the federal guys said that they were in the woods everyday and never had seen one and that they did not exist in our area. He even went on to say he was so sure of it that he would give them 100 bucks if they could even produce even the slightest evidence. Well this past year I got a pic of a juvenile mnt lion on one of my game cameras. I showed it to one of the local game wardens not realizing what a stir it would cause. Unfortunatly the federal guy had been transfered to Utah so I can not collect my money. haha What I am getting at is just because someone has not seen them does not mean they dont exist. The federal guy felt he knew better than anybody claiming to have seen one and dismissed any claims as stupid.

If you are coming this far then might as well come on over to the heartland of the USA. Oklahoma/Texas. Dont want you judging Americans off of what you see in San Fran or even anywhere in Cali. You can drive any direction from Dallas and find hogs and people willing to take ya Im sure. If you feel like driving 3hrs northeast to Oklahoma I can get ya on a hunt with my fiance's cousin that was on an episode or 2 of hogs gone wild and on another show that is coming out this spring on the Discovery channel.

If you are wanting a single shot then I would recoment a CVA scout. they are lighter, more accurate, cheaper than an H&R. You can get them for a lil over $200 in a stainless gun with a fluted barrel.

all the calibers you listed can and will knock a hog down but they will also cripple one up just as easy. all about shot placement. 308 in any rifle is hard to beat. Its a NATO round so there will be ammo out there when there isnt in those other calibers. Also there is a larger selection to choose from at cheaper prices.

While I havent seen a black panther I did get a pic of a young mnt lion on one of my game cams in October of last year. I posted it on my facebook page not realizing just how much of a stir it would cause. Local game warden told me that it was one of the only pics of a cat in southeastern ok. Hoping to catch a squatch on the cameras this fall.... (heavy sarcasm on the hopes of a squatch pic)

I am a fireman and on shift today too. We were watching finding bigfoot earlier as well at the station. We love that show or atleast love making fun of it. haha I live in McCurtain County which is in southeastern Ok. We have a Big Foot festival north of the town I live in. They are hardcore believers.

I got a male out that litter from Cole. Its a good looking little pup. Also got a young gyp from him that was just started out of some of the same bloodlines. Have a feeling they are both gonna make me some jam up dogs.
