3  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: The Louisiana law that allows retrieval of dogs! on: March 08, 2012, 08:51:11 pm
Basically what the laws states is that I can go on anyone's property to retrieve my animal as long as I have NO weapons on my person and that the land onset does not have a WRITTEN judgement against me in court stating I can't be on his property! Which that last part is rare because most of the time when my dogs go on someones property by accident they don't know me at all and I don't know them!

That why i love LOUISIANA

Things are different here boys us dog hunters are very protected by the law! If you shoot someones dog that is a hunting or working dog you will loose more then you could imagine not to mention possibly loosing your life if u shoot the right mans dog because i know many people that will shoot you dead in the woods over their dogs! In Louisiana you can WITHOUT permission go retrieve your hunting or working dogs on private property if the cross borders as long as you DON"T have any weapons or vehicles! Just a lil FYI i had posted the actual law on here last year for some ppl who didn't believe me but i keep a copy in my truck for cases like this because believe it or not even the sheriffs officers do not know about this law! I had to show a deputy the law once when a land owner called the cops on me for going on his land the deputy started to write me a ticket and quickly made phone calls after i showed him the law to clear it up! End of the story I WAS IN THE RIGHT and the land owner couldn't do anything!
6  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Do you believe certain dogs use their tails while running? on: March 08, 2012, 01:11:04 pm
God made dogs with and without tails, why in the world would one want to redo something God has made for us, I used to dock all the rat terriers as pups, one day I asked myself why, could not answer so quit 30 years ago doing it.  same way as a hound in full cry with tail arched, seen too many other dogs go to a hound trailing with a faster wagging tail as they had just got the hottest track, all dogs with tails use them when running, lots of terriers use them to back out of colasping holes or hollow rotten trees as well seen it to many times in person, how many times have you looked across whitebrush or a solid cactus patch and only spied a dog with its head down trailing and its tail wagging, if it was a bob taled dog chance the pack might not see it as well and not help it pick up a ducking and doging varmit.  I figure they like a flag with a lite on top like those sand dune buddys have.

VERY WELL SAID

If you bob a dogs tail when it's a puppy, it's going to grow up knowing nothing else.  If a dog gets his tail cut off later in age, then it will take him getting use to the lack of balance and feel that he's use to. I don't think it matters much once the dog gets use to not having a tail.

To me it's like a person being born with a disability, they know nothing else but that, but if a person loses a hand in life, it would take them getting use to it, but after awhile it would become second nature.

yes i agree with ya but let me ask you this could a person with no disability perform better then a person with a disability even though they were born with it from the start??? I believe on certain dogs the tails or useful for certain jobs! say example if a lacy dog is just for blood tracking or hog hunting will it need its tail NO PROB NOT! but if you use that lacy dog to catch and chase jack rabbits then will it use its tail YES INDEED it will! I just believe as long as the tail isn't getting swallowing or tore up in briers and effecting the dogs performance from it being raw then why cut it!

Ya'll might not believe me but i can prove this to anyone that wants to come watch him! HE does clean ducks and doves! That dog loves to PLUCK every feather off of a bird for some reason he won't bite the meat or anything he will just get all the feathers off then have fun chasing feathers all over the yard all day!
18  HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Took dog out for something different! on: February 28, 2012, 10:16:21 am
It is amazing how smart them lacys are isn't it cajun

I've never had a dog honestly Pay attention to a fishing like before! After we caught the second fish he learned that fish came after the pole wiggled and the amazing part was how long he focused on the poles waiting for bites!! Then how excited he would get when the pole tips moved! I swear if he had thumbs he woulda set the hook lmao

If he starts picking the pole up and setting the hook I think I'll get me a Lacy   Grin

If he does this i believe this dog would be PRICELESS!!! but i'ma work on teaching him how to CLEAN HIS CATCH!!! LMAO
