We have used 44's for the past 10+ years and have not had any problems. If hog runs at you and you hit them with a 44 you are either going to knock them down or change their direction. Have never had one go through like you will with a 30-30. 357's are just too loud. Only problem I have had with a 44 is shooting hollowpoints ( which is all I use) shooting through brush and hit a twig the bullet will split and fragment into little pieces and could hit a dog. Has happened twice to me, both times with big boars in thick brush where the hogs were baying loose, my fault i should have waited for a better shot. And go with a marlin lever action and you won't be disappointed!

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: feeding cornmeal????

I got a barrel I cut in half and made a big pot out of it. All left over scraps from quartering deer up go in it and I boil it until it all falls off the bone. If I can get fat from heb or butcher shops I will put that into also. Then I just add cornmeal until it makes a thick mush and there is enough to feed my dogs. I don't do this all the time but I will this time a year when I am killing does everyday and have plenty of meat to add. There are probably people out there that have real recipes or really know what they are doing but I know my dogs will get fat on this if I start giving too much. I keep them lean and they will hunt just fine off this mush as they would using any other high powered dog food. Oh and while feeding this I will give them a once a day all around dog vitamin.

My great grandfather used to farm and ranch in Mexico, his mother was Mexican, but when pancho villa took over they took all the land and and everything else they owned since his dad was an American. Not much different than the cartel today. So like i said earlier not trying to joke about it, trying to raise awareness. Since obamma has made it easier for people under thirty to get more benefits its amazing how many young people are coming across. We find 11-16 year old kids lost and dehydrated daily. Bad enough for a boy, but the trip over here for a little girl is horrible! Our government and mexicos are both to blame.

45 night before last. 500 yards from my house. 27 yesterday and last night just on the ranch. I told ya my location you don't need to know the exact ranch. Wow in my post I might treat it as a game sorry if it offends you. The only reason I posted this is to inform others who don't live in this area how many illegals are coming through on a daily basis. On a neighboring ranch last week 168 were caught in a day off of one trail. How many trails through the brush do you know of that 168 hogs go down daily?

Take a guess how many illegal immigrants border patrol has caught on the ranch I work on in the past two days. I am in southern Brooks county. I will answer tomorrow when I check this out again. Bonus points if you can guess how close most of them were to my house.

I don't have the time to sit these people down and determine if they are coming across to work or to leach off of the American teet. But I can give them some water and keep them alive and let BP do their job so I can do mine.
If they run off I call BP and tell them where they are headed. If they come to me for help I give them water and call BP to pick them up. If they are dead I call BP to come pick them up. If they threaten me in any way I deal with it usually just by siccin a dog or two on them or I will disable them somehow until BP comes and gets them.
Come on

And I hope you are never lost in the middle of no where, dehydrated and starving. If I don't call border patrol to feed, water and medicate them, then deport them I would be out a considerable amount of time and money doing all that myself. You wouldn't let your dogs die of thirst and I will not let a man woman or child suffer that fate. I WILL defend my loved ones and my property from harm. The rest I call border patrol.

First off I don't know how to fix the problem with ILLEGAL immigration, but if the president would let border patrol do their job we probably wouldn't have as many problems. I run 10,000 acres about 8 1/2 mile southwest from the 281 checkpoint. We have an estimated 50 to 100 illegals come through the ranch a DAY! I find 1-3 dead ones a month from dehydration, 5 to 10 a week wanting me to call border patrol for them to pick them up be because they are almost dead and see alot running through the brush when they see me.
Many of them just want to work. Alot of them know English better than average person around here. The problem I have with them is that desperate people do desperate things. Break into houses and hunting camps looking for food and water, steal trucks or tractors for transportation. Last week I had to pull a gun on two of them for trying to steal some horses i had saddled up under the barn. After they get water and food, which I can't hardly blame them for, they wreck houses and hunting camps. Leave water on overflowing in sinks, plug up toilets, leave fridges open and they will destroy a windmill and floats just out of spite costing hundreds and thousands of dollars to repair.
I don't have answers except I keep dogs around the house and barn to keep them away from my 2 month pregnant wife and we stay armed. The problem has gotten better out here on this ranch because I don't put up with this number 2 and word is spreading. If you really want results untie the border patrols hands and let them do their job.
Ps. It's not just mexicans I have personally found people out here from Mexico and south American countries, china, Cameroon, Iran, Iraq and some east European countries!!

It relaxes them, calms their nerves (instead of being fussy and hurting) and while they may be dehydrated and starving this will actually get them to start drinking on there own after squirting a little fluid down them. Used to live in an area where parvo was fairly common and maybe we just got better at nursing a sick pup, but after learning of this and using it we were more successful.

If you have puppies suffering from parvo put them in a shoe box, spark up a joint, and blow the smoke in with the puppies and close the lid. Hot box 'em! They will get cottonmouth and the munchies. Then give them plenty of pedialite. Quicker you get them drinking better the chance of survival.
