Both there parents were good, mom hogs and daddy was cows. But they will go both ways and i have seen in it action.
The two i have now are 5 months, i have put the on the out side of bay pen and the bay nice for 4 time on out side. I put them in the pen with small hog twice since then. They are looser than some my buddys pups but stay hooked bayin there butts off so long as the hog moves-keeps there attention every few mins. They do act like pups looking over there shoulder ever so often. But when they hear a squeal they automativally try to catch a ear.

Mine is inbetween two trucks, on job site during the week and in the woods and roping pen on weekends. I have several colman extremes that work well too. The tx heat in mid aug, open and closing it all day long none of them are goin to hold and make ice last for 10 days or what ever bs you have heard before. There all good, and some are better in differnt cases. Its goin to be up to you in the end.

I have the 55 quart brute box. I have had it for over a yr, my buddy has a yeti. We got down to the honest part of it and we both finally agreed they are basically the same. YETI and Brute are the dam near the same exact design with different latches, and one has a foam gasket and the other has a rubber. Both are tough as hell. I gave $175 for my 55 quart brute and im thinking about buyin another one! Everyone one that sees in on my flat bed ask where i got it and has to look twice to see what it is. Make sure you get a bike chain with combo. on it or they will get stolen! The combo. chain has saved my brute from being stole 3 or 4 times in the last yr.

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Re: Hurting PUPS-Dogs hunt later in the field

Thanks for the input. My grandpa dad and uncle have had cow dogs for well over 50+ years and all there dogs had there fair share of on a chain in a pen and turned out from time to time. It did not seem to hurt any of there hunt, bay or even catch abilites by being able to run loose on occasion. It is the same way i am raising mine, just wanted see how yal felt on the subject.

HOG & DOGS / GENERAL DISCUSSION / Hurting PUPS-Dogs hunt later in the field
|
on: July 31, 2012, 10:50:49 am

Whats yall opinion on how much it effects a dog-pups hunt if you let them out of kennel, or if let them off the chain during the week in the evenings for hour or so? Will this take away from there "want too hunt", will they not go out as far? Or will nothing be changed or effected? Hear of lots guys that only let theres loose when hunting, and others whose dogs run loose in yard and house with there kids and they hunt fine. Just wondering others opinion and if it takes the "hunt" out of a dog or not. thanks
