HOG & DOGS / HOG DOGS / Super shy timid cur dog
on: June 28, 2014, 04:14:41 pm
Ive had dogs for 20+ years and have had some issues with purebred cur dogs being very very timid when i got them. When ive gotten one like this, they have always been 8 mos or older. I just got a full blooded papered Ben male from my buddy and he is super timid. If i have him loose in the yard, i cant get close to him and he runs away. Any ideas on gaining trust?

He will go find a hog and stick with the son of a gun but barks on track momentarily. I run only silent dogs. He will be for sale as of tomorrow! He has a helluva nose but way too much staying power for me. Gps tonite shows hes been after this hog for over 4 miles! Hell with that! Some of you guys like these dogs, not me! Hunth2o@gmail.com 361-237-6803. Near Victoria Tx, 2 hrs south of Houston. He hunts from truck and ground, he is approx 2.5-3 yrs, doesnt open up and bark the whole time hes running the hog. He will be on the hogs trail and you may hear a bark or two then nothing for 3-5 minutes then maybe a bark or he may be bayed up but not constant barking

THE CLASSIFIEDS / THE DOG TRADE / 1/2 bmc 1/2 july hound strike dog & bmc help dog
on: June 25, 2013, 11:50:57 am
Ok...... I have had these dogs on here and even held one of them for over a week. I dont know what has happened to dog men, but it aint the way it used to be, as far as keeping ones word. I will not steer anyone wrong on these dogs and will only tell you what they WILL do and WONT do. I hunt 4-5 nights a wk doing damage control in agriculture so, they get hunted. The bmc july is a strike dog, he hunts from the truck as this is how i hunt, he is approx 3 yrs old and is a beautiful dog. He will go find you a hog, period. The reason im selling him is that he is not catchy and tends to bay a little loose. When i say loose, i mean that i want my dogs to bark once or twice at a hog then catch his azz. He will sometimes be caught when you get in there to stick the hog and others times just be barking. He will stay on a hog once the hog breaks but not too long, i would say within 30 mins hes back at truck. No problems with deer or livestock( i have horses next to all my dogs). Again, the ONLY reason im selling is because i hunt rough gritty catching strike dogs(basically rcds). They bmc help dog is approx 2 1/2. He is also a hog dog. He will catch with the other dogs and has found a few hogs by himself. He will not go burn up the countryside looking for sign. He will hunt from the truck and the ground but is not a finished dog therefore not totally sure of himself. He comes back to the truck good and has no dog aggression. He also has not trashed other than getting in on a coon that a bulldog grabbed. He IS NOT a finished strike dog, but will find or catch one in fresh sign. Im only selling him because i have several other dogs like him and ive had him the shortest time and didnt raise him from a pup. Please do not call wanting to see pics if you arent interested in buying one of these dogs. I am open to trades only male dogs and really rough gritty strike dogs. Im asking 1000 for Jake (bmc/july) and 300 for Slim( bmc help). Call/text 361-237-6803. Hunth2o@gmail.com. I will not hold either dog, ive done this too many times and then never hear a word once the day comes that the guy is supposed to arrive. I live in south texas on the coast near victoria, tx.....i am 2 hrs south of houston. Thanks. I am not a dog peddler and wish there was no such thing. I can send pics of the dogs.

He will load up by himself and likes to get on the roof or the box. Im asking 300 for him. Call/text 361-237-6803. Email: hunth2o@gmail.com

He is approx 3 yrs old. Apparantly this dog is out of Jesse ( lionandboarhunter) dogs. He will hunt from truck or ground and find a hog but is a loose baying dog and not rough. I have had him catch with catch dogs sometimes. I bought him from a guy in Livingston Tx that has a hog removal service. I run super rough cur dogs, so he doesnt fit in. 1200 or trade for super rough gritty male dogs only. South Texas( Victoria) area. Text or call 361-237-6803. Serious inquiries only please. Thanks. He is male, brindle, 2.5 yrs old. I have this dog started striking and he has found a couple hogs. He will hunt off the truck and really is starting to learn and trys hard. I run only completely silent dogs and dont want any barking til they are in the hogs face. $300 or trade. Hunth2o@gmail.com. 361-237-6803. Call or text. Thanks, Victoria, TX area

THE CLASSIFIEDS / THE DOG TRADE / Two ground hunting strike dogs
on: April 15, 2013, 10:53:05 am

I still have the two brothers. They are walker, cur and just a touch of bulldog. Have had tons of bs texts and tire kickers. I have told several people they could come get em and try em. They will find u a hog, you just have to decide if theyll work for you. They are approx 3 yrs old and i bought em from a buddy that quit hog hunting. I can send pics to you if you are truly interested. Im selling em because ive got too big of places to hunt my dogs on the ground and i dont like a dog to stay on a hog too long. Hunth2o@gmail.com. 361-237-6803 call/text. Port Lavaca, TX which is near Victoria. Open to trade but only male dog and one that winds and strikes from truck.

THE CLASSIFIEDS / THE DOG TRADE / 2 strike dogs

I have 2 males that are brothers, they are walker and cur with a tad bulldog. I bought these dogs from a friend last year when he sold out and quit hunting. They have always been hunted together and were his only strike dogs. They are ground hunting dogs and not wind from the truck dogs. I bought them and thought they would mingle with my dogs and work from the truck, but nope. They are approx. 3 yrs old. One is red and one is yellow, red one is a big tall dog and yellow one is a little shorter but not short by no means. Would like to sell em together, but dont have to. The main reason im selling them is they will stay on a hog for a while trying to stop him. I like to move on if he dont stop within 300 yds or so. These dogs have battle scars and catch too. I have pics of them. Would like 1500 for the pair. Email : hunth2o@gmail.com ; phone/text 361-237-6803. I would also consider trades for a dog that will hunt and wind from the truck, male only. Thanks

HOG & DOGS / DOGS ON HOGS / pups last hunt

well, decided to go hit the brush for a liitle bit yesterday evening since all we've been hunting is corn and milo. hit one good boar, he cut one of my strike dogs and broke....never stopped him again. then we hit another boar and he bayed nice and they caught him quick. nice boar 2 1/2" teeth...did a little work on em...nothing major. we then hit another boar hog and they bayed, then he broke, then they stopped him again long ways off in brush...then all was quiet. i started tracking and looked like most the dogs were coming back. couple of the boys that hunt with me called and said they had four dogs and figured that hog broke and didnt hear anything else. i had two dogs come back to the truck tired and figured the same. i told the boys come on back and we'd head home....dogs were pretty beat. all dogs were back except a dog named Pup(yellow cur dog), which not that uncommon, hes rough and will stay on one little longer sometimes. i tracked again and decided to drive around to get closer and my signal was kinda in and out and weak(my first thought that something isnt right). i have been using and still do, wildlife materials tracking system, it works better in my terrain than gps(my own personal trials). i started down that old sendero and after a bit....weak signal...GOOD..almost to him, well couple hundred yds up, i checked again and had a strong signal. i stopped and got out of truck and walked up and my fears were becoming clearer as i saw what looked like an old pond bank(i knew what had happened, but wouldnt let myself believe it). sure enough, i had a great signal while standing on the pond edge pointing at middle of the stock tank....when i walked to the other side and pointing the other way....nothing..until i pointed the antennae back to the tank middle. now, this had happened to me before a few years back, and it was a gator and got my dog back next day after he bloated and floated to the top. well, as i stood there i waited in the dark on the edge with my light off(keep in mind that im an alligator hunting guide and have been for many years so im used to the way they act and what they do with prey)and after a couple minutes i shined into that black water and i could see that big son of a @#*&% about a foot below the surface sinking back to the bottom. i then looked over on the other edge and could see something black kinda half floating on top....it was the boar Pup and probably couple my other dogs had. fished that hog outta the water and both ears chewed off(nice boar..im trying to put the picture of him at bottom of post....please excuse the pic...not too good, but was more concerned about the situation at hand). wasnt a whole lot i could do then, gator went to the bottom, dog underwater, and so i just decided to go back once Pup floated up......... Went back today and got Pup out, he had floated up. it appears that they must have had that boar in the water and been fighting him swimming, then drowned him....then gator at some point came off bottom and grabbed Pup by the sternum and pulled him under. i know where this gator lives and come sept 10th.....hes a goner. R I P Pup.....one great hog dog and family pet. guys, keep yalls eyes peeled for gators....there are getting to be more and more. thanks, Jake....PS.. the pics below are of the hunt, the hog by itself was the hog in the gator stock tank
