Redseal long cut for 8 years now

When I have been doing the drags I leash them to a tree in the woods and go off in the woods and make the drag and come out a diffrent way then where I whent in to the drag and then I let them go and it looks like my 2 pups work together to find the drag and no matter where I drag the put the drag they find it so I need to start switching them to live hogs and not do it around new dogs because when it's just me and them they work good

4-5 monthes old and it was there first time to be around these dogs

Ok last thing do the pices of hide I cut from a hog I killed fine to use as drags or do I need to use a live pig ?

True but I know what they can do with the drags  I gess I'm just going to have to give them more time and work harder with them

But do pices of hide off a hog smell the same as a live hog
And how do I get them to range out father because right now they won't go Fauther than 50 yards unless I follow them

Ok I have been useing pices of hog hide for my drags and my pups do really good at finding them well last night I got some pigs for the bay pen and one of the pigs got out and I set my pups out on it just to see if they could find it and Thay couldn't pick it up at all and all. They wanted to do is play with the the older dogs

So have I been useing drags that don't smell like live hogs am I doing something wrong please help!

I've feed it to every one of my dogs and I have had a lot of dogs from basset hounds pits must Englishbull dogs and labs and now curs they all do good on it.
But my pit I have now I switched him to the pro plan sensitive skin & stomach cuz of his instant problems and it is by far the best food I have ever fed

Well I'm confident that my 2 pups (dodge,cummins) are ready here is them after there final drag I have been working with them on drags for a month and have done better than I would have ever thought they would
I can take one of the drags with out them seeing me and go out about a 150 yards and put the drag out and drag it for about 150-200 yards from where I set the drag down and they will find it no problem so tommorw I'm and setting up a mock hunt for them and I hope they do as good as they do with the drags I'm really excited to see how it turns out!!!!

Ok I'm in temple tx and was wonder if there is any bay pens close to me

Sounds like he is using the deer hide to break the dogs with shock collar when the dogs go after them

Always have that gut feeling before I turn out think it is just part of it.

When y'all started hunting hogs did y'all ever just have a horible gut feeling that something bad is going to happen to your dogs y'all know I'm just starting out in this sport and have to cur mixes and one pit that has been by my side sience he was a puppy and I just keep thinking every time in the back of my head the first hunt we go on something bad is going to happen to my dogs am I the onley one that thinks this or am I just thinking to much?

Yep there good just get u a egr delete kip and chip off the dpf filter cold air intake and programmer and u are ready to fly and get good mileage

Ok what do y'all suggest on dog food for my pups I have them
on purina puppy chow but I work at a feed store and get a pretty good discount so price don't really matter what would be the best for 4month old cur/pit/cat pups?

Had the same thing happen to my bulldog his whole digestive system was inflamed he almost died we just pumped plenty of suger salt water mix under his skin bout 4 times a day and force feed him baby food and pedialite

Well I did some drags around my house cuz I couldn't make it to my buddies land and now all the pups want to do is wine in there cage in the house till I get kennels built so I let them out cuz that ushley means they have to go to the bathroom and all they do is run and smell where the drags where I really hope this is a good sign !!

So I should just let them do what they want on the smaller pigs and y'all think on the bigger hogs he will learn not catch so much and just be gritty and try not to let them catch the training pigs till there older because of there teeth and y'all think the one that catches will be able to sniff out hogs  because he lT looks like he is tring to sniff and find them ? I'm just trying learn as much as I can so I don't

Yea I was thinking bout there teeth but wasn't worried really because there kinda shy but he started with just nipping and barking but then he just locked on so should sience I don't have a pen just have the pig tied and staked and drop them down wind and let them find it and how could I get him to stop catching  but be kinda be gritty  because I have a catch dog

What I'm pretty much asking is how do I need to train these dogs becaus I'm kinda flying by the seat of my pants with these puppy's and just want to do the best I can!!

Well y'all know I'm new to the sport and I got my self 2 4month old cur/pit/cat puppy's and took them out to
My buddies and had a 30lb hog and drug it bout 40 yards away from them and let them go find it and they found it and stated to go run up and nip at it bark at it then the bigger one of the 2 ran up and locked up on the ear and it took a good bit to get him off but I think they did good for there first Tim around a hog hope I'm on the right track to training them
