any broken bones muscle ligament or tendon tears use BCP 157, its amazing w/ the injuries like that in dogs and humans. Its not cheap but cheaper than a vet bill and will regrow things normal vets md's etc say are permanent or need surgery, theres tons of info on line about it, I dont sell it at my office but reccomend it and am amazed at the stuff it heals
G'day Gentle men, I realise this post was a couple months ago so I do hope Mr Boudreaux is fighting fit. I'm from down under and I've did a little research into this product BCP 157 and sounds very good. My question to the guys that use this product is, Do you use this product ongoing or just until the trauma heals ? Cheers

Oh yeah I wanted to say thanks and also that I sent in a DNA test kit that also shows 25 top things that this bloodline of dogs are prone to getting or having. Hoping that may shed some light on the heat tolerance, and just a good thing to know. I used wisdom DNA I'm not familiar with any of them, but should have the results this week. I did it on the two oldest males that we breed to they are half brothers ( I love a uncle niece cross) and I'm curious to see if their is much difference just due to them having different mothers. They their the same kind of pups so I'm going to guess not.
Hi Lettmroll, Fantastic read mate and thank you. Its wonderful to read about the efforts that guys go to when trying to fine tune their dog lines as many of these guys do. As many would know its a life time of work especially with tight lines. Just wondering if you may have got the DNA results back and if it shed any light on the heat tolerance. Cheers

The brass retains temperature better. It doesn't warm up as fast as the stainless once applied to the animal. Copper or copper alloys are supposed to be the best about temperature retention but brass is probably the most common because of cost. The stainless works but is a lot harder to get consistent results with, especially on larger animals like cattle and horses where it has to be held on longer. The up side to stainless is you can use it for freeze branding or as a hot iron. I have never used stainless but have never talked to anyone that had real good results with them. The branding iron companies will tell you the same or they did when I was deciding. Hope that's what you were needing.

Appreciate your reply t-dog. My son knows of a fella that makes his own branding irons with medical grade stainless but use's them on stock only. We were thinking of maybe using them to mark our dogs with. We may have to contact a branding iron company. Thanks again t-dog. Cheers

G'day Folks, Could someone tell me the reason it is preferred that a brand iron is made of Brass ?? Also has anyone made and used medical grade stainless steel as a brand iron and is it acceptable or advisable. Thanks for any help or advise.
Cheers

This is a great thread, at 1st I was finding it hard to understand some of the terminology's used but as I continued to read on and different examples were explained I began to understand. I agree that these traits are natural instinct and some dogs have a better handle on them than others. I also believe as others have mentioned that terrain and vegetation makes a big difference to a dogs working style. Again great thread.
Cheers

Seen a few gyps who would backtrack the first hog we caught and find the rest of the group. Sometimes it felt like they could count. Most those same gyps would leave a bay and be running as soon as they saw us walking in with bulldogs.
Boogie was a proficient track dog. When he would slow down and was working an old track, he would hit every leaf, tree or bar wire the hog might have rubbed up against.
Seen a few dogs who were very good at drifting a track. As race was happening they would hit a road and eat up a ton of track and still bay the hog.

G'day TShelly and other post's, Great read, TShelly please excuse my ignorance but what do you mean when you write dogs who werevery good at drifting a track ?? Cheers

Good stuff t-dog, sounds like a memorable hunt for you. Dogs have done well. Nothing better than going to a patch that has just been hunted and your told nothings there and your dogs pull off a find and catch Hope the kids had a ball,,, Cheers Dom

Thanks for the reply RBz_OFFROAD & Goose87. Not like our salty's down here, their ready to go all seasons and where there at it don't get cold.
Cheers Dom
Our gators here, especially as far south as we are, feed all year long but this time of year they’re not nearly as active and are sluggish, now me saying this I’ll have one eaten as soon as I hunt the swamp again... Hope that's not the case pal. Cheers Dom
