A really good dog to someone might be a useless dog to someone else. It's all about matching the dog to the hunting style of the individual owner.
That's the bottom line for me. I don't put much faith in what people say or labels they give their dogs. To me, true colors shine through on a hunt....and not just one hunt, but the ability to do the same thing time and time again with a good success average.....I like to compare it to a professional athlete....many can perform at high levels sometimes, but the best of the best can do it time after time with very few stumbles.....That's how I gauge a great dog.
