Well, I will buy in on that 110% in my experience. I had a pair litter mates (still have 1, RIP Pepper), they were hog crazy in the pen at a very early age. I got a gyp that was a 1yo to add to my young pack. These pups were all a year old at the same time, a shock collar could not keep her off of deer. The male dogs mentioned have always been tattle-tale dogs, very honest. Today if I get an older pup will try to "buddy" them up with my best dog, this seems to help some. When they go barreling after a deer and they are by themselves and they listen to me better. Youngsters will be youngsters, who knows what they will do next???
You said it best "dogs that you raise" we are always trying to improve our pack by bringing in an outside dog. The best dogs that I have ever had hunted with their parents. I have a pup that is 1yo "almost trash proof deluxe" that has been hunting since he was 6mo with parents (he was baying solo in pen at 2mo) proof is in the pudding.....
I think that you and your friend are right on with this thought.....
Happy New Year
