That was my dog that got cut up wearing the Guardian Kevlar vest from Ugly Dog/Wild Boar USA. The vest had several cut's all the way through up and down the left side and a 2 inch CUT THRU underneath the dog behind his front leg. I'm lucky my dog is still alive, and I expected MUCH more out of a $170 vest. I like the design and quality of the vest but the cut resistance flat out SUCKS!! I had the big cut in the vest stitched up and I'm having another layer of 1050 ballistic nylon put in by a guy at a local upholstery shop. Bottom line I'm gonna have $200 into this and it doesn't provide half the cut resistance of other vest I have seen. (Southern Cross or Larry Paris) and I'm sure their are other good ones, those are just a few that I know of first hand.
I'm not trying to whine about my vest and Dog getting cut up! Dogs get cut that's just part of it, but a $170 vest getting tore up like this on its first night out is a joke. I'm posting this because I wish somebody else would have spoke up before I wasted my money. If your looking for a vest that "looks" like it will protect your dog the Guardian is for you. If your looking for cut resistance look else ware.
Hey I am just curious as to why you didn't take the vest back to UDR?? Also if you've got that many holes in the vest covering it with another layer of Nylon really isn't gonna protect the dog any better on the next trip out. I have dealt with a few different representatives of WBUSA on more then a few occasions and they have always been more then helpful and accomadating even when I needed something special. Good luck on getting your vest back in working condition and back in the field.
