Sorry it took so long my computer has been in the shop!!

We tried Mitaban - it doesnt work, the only thing it does it make the dogs sick.  Zimectrin is easier to give versus liquid Ivomec.  The vet will tell you that if the dog is heartworm positive not to give it to him as it can kill him.  I have been using it on a HW positive (low) dog and it hasnt affected him at all and his hair has all but come back.

As far as dosage lenght, it depends on the dog....I am currently treating one and he has been on it for almost 9 months but his hair is pretty much back - the only thing he lacks is his chest/feet and they are almost cleared up.  Once the hair is back reduce the amount you are giving until you wean them off of it and then you should be free-n-clear.

I believe that a combination of good food and a clean pen also...these dogs we have it is definately genetic but we have never had the hair problems return or occur but others whose diets/pen cleanliness never did well  - ie. this male we have back now was living in a nasty pen and cruddy food, he was given back because the problem had gotten so bad and the guy couldnt touch him on top of it....after rmonths of getting him tamed down and his hair back he is just as wonderful his big brother and sister.
