Cause not everyone get to hunt in hog infested country, some places hogs are few and far between.
I'm fortunate enough to have both kinds of places... it makes you appreciate a dog that will go out and find one. There may not be a hog one on the place, but it makes you feel better knowing that your dogs covered it.
Good point mike... Plus hogbuyer i think its safe to say that no one wants a dog that will pass up hogs to find one a mile away. My long range dog that will find a hog if there is only one sow in 2 mi.'s is a short range dog if there are hogs 20 yards in front of us in the corn! But hot nosed short ranged dogs will not be able to find the hogs that my dog will. Versatility is King in my opinion and hunting terrain.
