Find a old wore out ranch horse if you can!!! Try to only buy one horse so it will bond to her (not another horses) They don't need horse friends!!  Spend the money and buy her a Corrente Buckaroo saddle it has help my kids and many others the high back helps hold the kid in!! They run $380!!! Keep leading the horse with her to build cofidence in the child!! Get a round pen and work the horse in the pen before putting the kid on everytime to get the horses mind right each time for a kid!!! You can learn the horse and relase the kid in the round pen then put the horse on the wall and let the kid learn to trot then lope so fourth!!It all takes time and let the kid go slow remember horse are animals and can do something stupid at anytime!!! My kids were born in a saddle and Rowdy is 10 and can ride the hair off one!! But just take it slow find the right horse(never buy color cause its pretty)!!! As far as a pony this is the way I see it a pony can be mean and get away with alot BECAUSE how is a grown man or women going to get on a pony and correct them when needed its hard been there done it!!! I tell Rowdy all the time I'm going to buy unbroke ponys  for him to break cause he will put a hurtin on one!! I do use my kids horse every once and awhile to keep the horse heads right!! (To make sure they don't get sire) If I can be any help let me know!!
