using 2x4's and plywood make a 2x2x3 cube dog house, cut a hole just big enough to get in and out of, elevate it about 5 inches off the ground. use a 4x8 sheet of plywood for the roof. the plywood should hang over the doghouse a few inches to keep rain out. use 2x4s to support the rest of the plywood. use horse panel or small square panel (if the dog can get his head through the panel he can get his collar stuck and will be dead this summer) make the roof have 3 sides so the dog cant get wraped around the post. when making the support posts for the roof put them a couple inches away from the edge. this is what you will nail the panel to. if the panel is hanging out a chain will get hung on it. this design is good all year long. keeps rain out, blocks wind in the dog house, provides shade for the dog and water, and keeps the shavings in the dog house if you cut the hole right
