I will not make a desision on a pup untill thry are a year old. One of the best young dogs I have right now really did not do much at all untill 12 months, now you could not buy him at any price. I raise and work whole litters every year and I could care less what they are doing at 6 months, if they hang out at my feet, no big deal. I make sure they enjoy their time in the field and pat them on the head every so often, I will never scold a young dog for not leaving me, pups need to feel secure to hunt. They are all differant and come around in differant ways. I have had many good dogs that would not work at all in a pen when they were young.
