will say at least a yr the other thing to be careful is the dog might never bark at a hog in a pen i dont bay my woods dogs to much in a pen i think it messes em up (JMO) but i have dog now that if you seen him in a pen you would call him junk but put him in the woods and he will get it just my 2 cents
